German police in the city of Frankfurt are said to have launched a criminal investigation into the actions of an Israeli musician who waved an Israel flag to counter the hatred of an anti-Israel demonstration in Frankfurt.

Shockingly, it is the Israeli who could be charged with a crime simply for waving an Israeli flag, despite her being the victim of actual crimes, such as anti-Semitic abuse, which appear to be going unpunished.

The incident took place on July 1 this year, when Agre happened upon an anti-Israel demonstration near her home that was arranged by the pro-Palestinian organisation, Samidoun.

Samidoun supports the anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel and the freeing of Palestinian prisoners, including terrorists.

Agre went up to her apartment to fetch an Israeli flag which was about the size of a kitchen towel and returned to the square where the protesters were marching.

The Jerusalem Post reports that Frankfurt police officer approached Agre and recorded her identity, advising her to leave because her presence was “provocative to the young Muslims.”

Ana Agre and the police officer spoke together in English with the police officer ordering her to leave. When she asked why she wasn’t allowed to display the Israeli flag in Frankfurt, the officer is said to have responded, “Because I don’t like it”.

Agre, a Jewish Israeli citizen, was called a “Nazi” by anti-Israel protesters, a clear anti-Semitic insult. They chanted, “Nazis out” at her.

It seems that anti-Semitism towards a Jew was permitted on the streets of Frankfurt once again just as it was in the dark days before the Holocaust. It is shameful that this was allowed to happen. It is also shocking that the simple act of standing up to hatred means you may be charged with a crime.
