The King of Glory Entering Zion.
A Psalm of David.
The earth is the Lord’s, and all it contains,
The world, and those who dwell in it.
For He has founded it upon the seas
And established it upon the rivers.
Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord?
And who may stand in His holy place?
He who has clean hands and a pure heart,
Who has not lifted up his soul to falsehood
And has not sworn deceitfully.
He shall receive a blessing from the Lord
And righteousness from the God of his salvation.
This is the generation of those who seek Him,
Who seek Your face—even Jacob. Selah.
Lift up your heads, O gates,
And be lifted up, O ancient doors,
That the King of glory may come in!
Who is the King of glory?
The Lord strong and mighty,
The Lord mighty in battle.
Lift up your heads, O gates,
And lift them up, O ancient doors,
That the King of glory may come in!
Who is this King of glory?
The Lord of hosts,
He is the King of glory. Selah.
(Psalm 24)
Psalm 24 gives a wonderful overview of the Biblical story, from Genesis to Revelation.
In the above reading, we are reminded that “the earth is the Lord’s, and all it contains.” God created the world, and as the rightful owner, He has all authority over it.
God chose the land of Israel as the only piece of land separated out for His people. He did not choose anywhere else.
The psalm speaks of those who seek God’s face and asks who may stand in His holy place. We are reminded that God is holy, and He desires for us to be righteous. However, we cannot purify ourselves.
Only One has “clean hands and a pure heart” and has uttered no falsehoods: Jesus. He came to Zion, and it is through His sacrifice that we are washed and made clean.
One day, Christ will return to Jerusalem, and the King of Glory will rule the world from Zion!
Prayer Points:
Pray for the UK: Let’s continue to intercede for our nation as the battle of good vs evil rages in our land. There are so many areas of contention where our Judeo-Christian values are being attacked. Pray that the people of Britain will wake up to threats facing our nation, not least the danger our nation faces as it abandons the God of Israel. Pray that the Palestinian Cause will be silenced in Britain. Pray that Christians will speak up with a united voice for Israel.
Pray for Israel’s elections: The Jewish state is going to the polls in just two weeks, with diplomatic offices already casting their votes. Pray that God’s hand of blessing will be upon Israel during this turbulent election period. Pray that the people of Israel will have wisdom in choosing their elected officials. Pray that those who lead Israel will honour God.
Pray for the Night to Honour Israel in London: We are gearing up for the event, and we would greatly value your prayers. Pray for those planning the event that everything will run smoothly. Pray that God will stir the hearts of Christians throughout the country to make the trip to London to fill the venue. Pray too for the Jewish community who are joining us, that they will be blessed by this whole event. Most importantly, pray that God will be glorified.
Praise the God of Israel: It’s always good to be reminded to praise the Lord! Psalm 47:7: “For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding.”
