This coming October we will be commemorating two years since the October 7th attacks against Israel. We are inviting churches, prayer groups and families to set time aside on or near to 7th October to remember the atrocities, the victims, and their families. For example, some churches might decide to dedicate time during their Sunday 6th October service to commemorate.

We have provided a number of resources below to help groups mark the day, including readings, links to videos, and items to order. There is also an opportunity to let us know what you have planned.

Remembering Oct 7th: A Reading for Prayer & Reflection

Videos explaining October 7

The attack (2 mins)

At 6:00am on October 7, Hamas terrorists invaded Israel by land, air, and sea, simultaneously launching thousands of missiles at Israel from Gaza. The attack, called Operation Al-Aqsa Flood by Hamas, is known in Israel as Black Saturday, the Simchat Torah Massacre, and the October 7 attack.

Global reaction (2 mins)

Despite the gruesome and vicious nature of Hamas’ attack, the world’s reaction when the news broke was mixed.

Denial (2 mins)

Like Holocaust denial, which has resurged on social media in recent years, the denial of Hamas’s atrocities against Israel on October 7 is spreading. But for those not blinded by hatred and bigotry, the facts surrounding the historic and horrific massacre of innocent Israelis are undeniable.

A day that changed Israel and the world

Alex and Alastair reflect on the October 7th terror attacks in this special episode to mark one year since the atrocities. They discuss the impact that the attacks had on Israel and the Jewish people worldwide; how Britain has changed over the past 12 months, especially with the rise of antisemitism. They also share how they felt personally when the events unfolded on that fateful day and invite listeners to share how October 7th impacted you. Plus, they explain how you too can set time aside this weekend to remember the victims of October 7th using resources provided by CUFI.
