The United States government has approved a $1 billion funding bill for Israel’s Iron Dome missile defence system after it passed votes in both Congress and Senate.
Christians United for Israel (CUFI) has long campaigned for this bill to pass. It was held up in previous votes but has finally made it through being part of an Omnibus Appropriations Agreement.
“From core support enabling Israel to defend itself against tyrants that seek its destruction, to the vital resupply of Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system, we welcome Congress including critical aid to Israel within the Omnibus bill, which now heads to the President’s desk,” said CUFI founder and Chairman Pastor John Hagee.
Israel’s Prime Minister Naftali Bennett expressed his gratitude saying it showed the US had an “overwhelming commitment to Israel’s security and for passing the critical security package — including the replenishment of the life-saving Iron Dome.”
Israel’s Foreign Minister Yair Paid said, “The U.S. Senate’s approval last night of security assistance for Israel, including for the Iron Dome, is additional proof of the commitment of the U.S., Congress, & the Biden administration to the security & welfare of Israel and the special relations between our two countries.”
Israel’s Iron Dome defence system is a missile system that shoots incoming rockets out of the sky. It has intercepted thousands of missiles being fired from Gaza by the terror group Hamas. It has saved hundreds of civilian lives inside of Israel.
