British journalist Melanie Phillips said some profound and provocative statements in an interview with Sky News Australia last month, and we thought it was worth raising the valid points she made in relation to the Palestinian cause and the Wests fawning over it.

Phillips was questioned on the Trump plan to rebuild Gaza, and she took the opportunity to explain how she thinks the narrative around the Palestinians needs to change.

Melanie Phillips said:

“The notion that the Palestinians, as such, represent a cause that is worthy is one that has to be scotched. It is a misapprehension based on a set of historically illusory facts that are not facts at all, and that have actually driven the Middle East into war for the last century, completely knocking the entire Western liberal intelligentsia off the moral rails. There is no such thing as the Palestinian people. The idea of a Palestinian state was never truly wanted by them; it was devised as part of the explicitly named ‘Strategy of Stages’ in order to serve as a staging point to destroy Israel. It is based on an Islamic holy war to get rid of the Jews—to eliminate Israel as the Jewish homeland as a precursor to destroying the West, Western civilisation, and replacing it with Islamic rule. Consequently, the adoption of the Palestinian cause has distorted everything. Basically, what has happened over the last hundred years is that the West has rewarded Palestinian genocidal aggression against the state of Israel and against the Jewish people by promising that they will have a state of their own—by essentially telling them that they are entitled to one. Now, if you’re saying that people who are bent on genocide are entitled to something, then you have lost the moral plot completely, and you’re incentivising more war and more terror. This has resulted in what we all saw on October 7th: an act of unspeakable barbarity and sadism conducted against Jews as Jews, although non-Israeli Jews were involved as well. In my view, this [Trump’s proposal] is an essential precursor to saying to the Palestinians as a whole: you’re over, you’re finished. We don’t support this cause; we now identify this cause as utterly bogus. You will get nothing from us in the future. There is not going to be a state. You are not entitled to any more funding from us until you stop this campaign of terror and murder against Israel and the Jewish people. You will get no diplomatic recognition from us. Now, this would be an absolute revolution—it is elementary moral and political reality, as far as I am concerned. But the fact is that it is so thoroughly embedded in the Western mindset that there is a Palestinian people and that there has to be a Palestinian state—that’s seen as the route to peace. It is almost impossible to envision that happening. What Trump has done by moving the discourse in the way that he has over Gaza—and we’ve seen the reaction to that—I would hope is the precursor to some sanity finally emerging over this issue.”

A long read, but it hits key points on the nose.

There is no such thing as an historic Palestinian people. History attests to this fact. When you dig into the ground in Israel you will find evidence of the Jews, you’ll find evidence of the Roman invasion, you’ll even find evidence of the Byzantine empire. You will not, however, find any evidence of the Palestinians.

When the British Mandate for Palestine was in effect, the Palestinians of the day were primarily Jews. The ‘Palestine National Football Team’ had a Star of David on it and was comprised of Jews. The ‘Palestine Post’ later was renamed the ‘Jerusalem Post,’ a Jewish newspaper that is still in print today. Even the ‘Palestine Philharmonic Orchestra’ became the ‘Israel Philharmonic Orchestra’ after 1948.

Palestine was the name that many Jews adopted as the name of the land they lived in, including having ‘Palestine’ as their birthplace on their passports.

In fact, there is an article from the New York Times which states how the Arabs were going to boycott ‘Palestinian’ goods. Their antisemitic hatred of Israel first began as antisemitic hatred of Palestine, because the Jews themselves identified as Palestinians.

It was not until years later, when the Islamic world realised they couldn’t defeat the Israel in quick wars that they had to adopt a long term strategy. They claimed the Palestinian name for themselves, rewrote history, and made up lies to try and support their bogus claims.

As Phillips points out above, it has no factual basis. It is extremely troubling that such lies could gain high esteem amongst the academic world. They are lies with no historic or factual basis, yet they were treated as unquestionable fact.

The ‘Strategy of Stages’ that Melanie mentions above is simply a plan to destroy Israel in stages.

The first goal was to establish a Palestinian State on nay part of the land. The second was to use that state as a launchpad for further ‘struggle’. The third stage is the complete ‘liberation of Palestine’.

In simple terms, the only purpose of a Palestinian state is to use it to wipe out Israel. It’s not for the freedoms and rights of the Palestinians, it’s for the removal of the Jews.

The West has had moral failures in all of this. The Palestinians are using terror as their weapon of warfare and appeasing the Palestinians incentivizes terror. Worse than this, the West actively funds Palestinian terror, whether it is through aid to Gaza which filters into the hands of Hamas, or the funding of the Palestinian Authority (PA) and their ‘pay for slay’ program which gives stipends to families of terrorists.

The Palestinian aim is the destruction of Israel, not living alongside Israel peacefully. And there is no partner for peace in either Hamas or the PA.

Psalm 83:4, says, “They have said, ‘Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation, that the name of Israel may be remembered no more.’”

This was written more than 3,000 years ago. For the past 3,000 years Satan has been stirring the hearts of men against Israel. Today, is just the same. This is why Jesus says when He returns He will judge the nations on how they treated Israel and how they divided up the land.

The land belongs to Israel by divine right, and the Palestinian narrative is a tool of destruction, not coexistence. The West must reject this illusion.

True peace demands moral courage—supporting Israel, rejecting terror, and standing on Biblical truth. Anything less is a betrayal of both history and God’s Word.
