Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez will travel to Israel on Friday to inaugurate a “diplomatic office” in Jerusalem, recognizing the holy city as Israel’s capital.

The diplomatic office in the city will be an extension of Honduras’s Tel Aviv-based embassy.

“For me it’s the recognition that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel,” Hernandez said on Tuesday.

The Honduran foreign ministry said in a statement Israel had proposed that Honduras move its embassy to Jerusalem, which is being “analyzed and evaluated in the international and national context.”

It is only right for Israel to ask this as earlier this year the Honduras government voted to move its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

President Hernandes previously said the diplomatic mission “will extend our embassy to the capital of Israel, Jerusalem.”

It appears it is only a matter of time until Honduras’ opens a full embassy in Israel’s capital. When it does, Honduras will join the US and Guatemala as the only three countries with full-fledged embassies located in the Israeli capital. And we are sure God will bless them for this move. Now it is time for the UK to do the same!

We call upon the UK Government to officially recognise Jerusalem is Israel's capital and move its embassy to Jerusalem.
