Hamas has praised a shooting attack that left a 35-year-old Israeli father of six dead as “heroic”.
“The attack in Nablus is the first practical response as a reminder to the enemy’s leaders and those behind them (the United States) that your fears are being realized,” the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades so-called armed wing of the Gaza-ruling group said. “The West Bank will remain a knife in your body.”
Hamas said the attack was a direct consequence of “crimes” against Jerusalem, following President Donald Trump’s December recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.
“We welcome the heroic action, that came as a result of Israel’s crimes against our people in the West Bank, Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque,” the statement said. “The Israeli government bears the consequences of its racist and extremist policies.”
Hamas is the terror group that controls the Gaza strip. While they praised they attack they did not claim it as one of their own.
Fatah also appeared to praise the attack on Facebook.
