The hatred against Jews that once festered in shadowy corners of the internet is now pouring into the mainstream. It is deeply disheartening to witness the flood of antisemitic blood libels and conspiracy theories spreading online, particularly across social media platforms.

However, it is something else entirely when those same blood libels are being echoed from the halls of the United Nations, an institution widely regarded by the public as a moral compass for the world. When blood libels come from places of authority, they are much more dangerous.

The UN is no longer simply twisting facts or hiding the truth. It has crossed into outright fabrication, spreading grotesque, antisemitic lies that demonise Israel on the world stage.

Last week, we exposed the 14,000 babies blood libel, a claim spread by British diplomat Tom Fletcher, who is the head of the UN’s aid mission in Gaza.

He declared, emotionally and emphatically, that 14,000 children were going to die “within the next 48 hours” because Israel was blocking food aid into Gaza. This was a complete lie.

The actual data shows there are at most 14,000 children in Gaza at risk of becoming severely malnourished over the course of a year. A serious concern, but one that is not being ignored. In fact, Israel has facilitated the delivery of food aid to Gaza. Enough food has entered the territory to avert famine entirely if it reaches the people and isn’t instead horded by Hamas.

It’s important to point out: over 3 million children died of starvation in 2024 across the globe. Not one of them was in Gaza. And tens of millions of children remain severely malnourished in regions like sub-Saharan Africa, Yemen, and Afghanistan. Yet instead of raising the alarm for those forgotten lives, Tom Fletcher chose to lie to demonise Israel and spread antisemitic hate.

But Fletcher didn’t stop there.

This week, he appeared on CNN and spread yet another blood libel. He claimed that 10,000 aid trucks were waiting to enter Gaza.

If that were true, it would be easy to verify, because it would create a traffic jam stretching from Tel Aviv to Eilat… TWICE! It would be enough trucks to wrap around the border of Gaza ten times. Or, for a UK comparison, it would clog the entire length of the M1 and M6 motorways in both directions between London and Birmingham.

Why would he lie so brazenly? Because he knows the lie works. It does exactly what it’s meant to do: incite hatred against Israel.

In both cases, the BBC and CNN anchors weren’t prepared with the facts to challenge him in real-time. And since Fletcher is a UN official, they gave him the benefit of the doubt.

The truth? Gaza received eight months’ worth of food aid during January and February, much of which, crucially, ended up being hoarded by Hamas or stockpiled in UN warehouses (possibly used by Hamas). 14,000 babies have not died, and the truth remains buried beneath the viral lie.

Tom Fletcher is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to UN blood libels.

Francesca Albanese, the UN’s Special Rapporteur on the Palestinian territories, has also been spreading dangerous blood libels. She will use any opportunity to demonise Israel.

Albanese proved her credentials this week when she shared an image of Palestinians receiving aid and described Israel’s orderly method of handing out aid, “the worst humanity is capable of.” Meanwhile, Israel, under constant threat from Hamas, is going to extraordinary lengths to deliver aid to civilians under terrorist rule. But instead of acknowledging that, Albanese chooses to distort reality and fuel hatred.

And Francesca, we are quite sure that October 7th and the Holocaust were “the worst humanity is capable of”, not Israel handing food to Palestinians who have been denied food by Hamas.

One has to wonder what planet these people are on. But they are not alone. At the UN, they have many friends.

Too many at the UN are peddling dangerous antisemitic hatred.

Since Hamas’s October 7 massacre, multiple UN figures have issued wildly inflammatory, anti-Israel statements invoking antisemitic tropes and double standards, many of which align with the IHRA definition of antisemitism. Among the worst offenders:

Francesca Albanese (UN Special Rapporteur on oPt): Francesca is mentioned twice in this article because she is a repeat offender.

In October 2023, (just days after October 7th) she argued that “in the case of Israel, there was no right to self-defense on October 7 simply because Israel was not attacked by another state. In other words, since the attack came from an armed group within a territory that Israel… is widely recognized as illegally occupying, it cannot claim the right to self-defense”

Albanese denies Israel, and Jews, the same rights that all other states and peoples have under international and humanitarian law. This is an extreme double standard.

She often repeats the libels of “genocide”, “ethnic cleansing”, and other lies. She also lied about being a lawyer, despite not passing the bar exam. It seems her only credentials are being a serial liar and an antisemite.

Michael Fakhri (Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food): Accused Israel of “weaponizing starvation”. In a report he wrote he described starvation “being used as a weapon of displacement, threatening the existence of Palestinians to further Israel’s annexation goals.”

In reality, Fakhri was weaponizing blood libels as a tool to harm Israel’s reputation. As said before, Israel has done more to feed its enemy than any other country in history. Not only is Israel NOT weaponing aid, Israel is stopping Hamas from weaponizing it.

Reem Alsalem (Special Rapporteur on Violence Against Women): Alleged that Israel was systematically targeting Palestinian women and babies in a “genocide strategy.” The Jordanian falsely claimed there was “the use of reproductive violence in the unfolding genocide in Gaza, which is unparalleled in other conflicts.”

This blood libel is particularly egregious.

Israel does not want to wipe out the Palestinian bloodline or stop Palestinians from having babies. To even suggest that is absurd, but to then claim it is “unparalleled”, as if Israel is doing far worse atrocities than anyone else has ever done, is beyond the pale.

Does she not recall how mothers and babies were sent to the gas chambers in Auschwitz as a strategy of systematic slaughter during the Holocaust? That was a real attempt to wipe out the Jewish bloodline.

Does she not realise that even Hamas leaders themselves are saying that Gaza’s population hasn’t dropped because even during the conflict, Palestinian women have given birth to over 50,000 children?

Palestinian women have one of the highest birth rates in the world, something that has not diminished because of the war. Hamas have said one of their main strategies is to keep having babies. And there are no signs that Israel is doing anything to stop that. Why? Because Israel doesn’t want to wipe out Palestinians, Israel wants to defeat Hamas.

Philippe Lazzarini (UNRWA Commissioner-General): Repeatedly described Israel’s actions as “genocide” and a “war crime,” accused Israel of using food as a weapon, all while his own organisation, UNRWA, employed dozens of Hamas operatives and stored weapons in its facilities. The links between Hamas and UNRWA are so extensive, in fact, that the head office of UNRWA was sharing power with a Hamas base built directly below it. And an UNRWA official was ousted from Gaza for saying that Israel’s strikes were accurate and not targeting civilians. It didn’t fit their narrative.

Volker Türk (UN High Commissioner for Human Rights): Claimed Israel bore “significant blame” for Gaza’s famine risk and might be guilty of war crimes. Again, no mention of Hamas theft, tunnel hoarding, or violent obstruction of aid.

Craig Mokhiber, a now-resigned UN human rights director, accused Israel of committing a “textbook case of genocide” and called for dismantling Israel’s “settler-colonial project.”

First of all, he’s openly calling for Israel’s destruction with language like that.

Second, if Israel really was committing a “textbook case of genocide”, then the Irish government wouldn’t currently be trying to redefine the meaning of the word genocide to try and accuse Israel of it. You can read more about that here.

Anti-Israel hatred is part of the fabric of the UN

Sadly, there are many anti-Israel and antisemitic voices at the United Nations. It is no wonder that the UN has been described as the epicentre of global antisemitism and the ‘theatre of the absurd,’ as Netanyahu has called it in the past.

When the UN adopts the language of genocide, blood libel, and Holocaust inversion, and applies it exclusively to the one Jewish state while ignoring the crimes of a genocidal terrorist organisation, it is no longer a neutral arbiter. It is actively fuelling hatred.

As Bible believing Christians we understand that we are living in the End Times. We know that the nations are turning against Israel and we believe that the United Nations will be one of the main ways in which Satan will turn hearts, minds, and entire nations against Israel. We are seeing it play out before our eyes.

“And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it.” (Zechariah 12:3)

The UN’s blood libel problem is a stain on its moral authority, and a danger to Jews everywhere.

We may not be able to change the UN, but we must raise awareness so that Christians can pray for Israel and the Jewish people around the world. And hopefully so that the Church will not be deceived by the UN’s lies.
