“For our shield belongs to the Lord,
And our king to the Holy One of Israel.”
Psalm 89:18

Psalm 89 is a wonderful reminder of God’s faithfulness to the seed of David. Notice the following:

God’ Covenant with His chosen people endures forever (vs 3-4):

“I have made a covenant with My chosen,
I have sworn to My servant David:
‘Your seed I will establish forever,
And build up your throne to all generations.’” Selah

The seed of David will overcome the enemy of God (20-23):

“I have found My servant David;
With My holy oil I have anointed him,
With whom My hand shall be established;
Also My arm shall strengthen him.
The enemy shall not outwit him,
Nor the son of wickedness afflict him.
I will beat down his foes before his face,
And plague those who hate him.”

God is faithful and has given David and his seed authority that will be enforced (24-29):

“But My faithfulness and My mercy shall be with him,
And in My name his horn shall be exalted.
Also I will set his hand over the sea,
And his right hand over the rivers.
He shall cry to Me, ‘You are my Father,
My God, and the rock of my salvation.’
Also I will make him My firstborn,
The highest of the kings of the earth.
My mercy I will keep for him forever,
And My covenant shall stand firm with him.
His seed also I will make to endure forever,
And his throne as the days of heaven.

Even if David’s descendants break God’s Law, God will not remove His love for them (32-33):

“Then I will punish their transgression with the rod,
And their iniquity with stripes.
Nevertheless My lovingkindness I will not utterly take from him,
Nor allow My faithfulness to fail.”

God’s Word is UNCHANGED and UNREVOKED (34-37):
My covenant I will not break,
Nor alter the word that has gone out of My lips.
Once I have sworn by My holiness;
I will not lie to David:
His seed shall endure forever,
And his throne as the sun before Me;
It shall be established forever like the moon,
Even like the faithful witness in the sky.” Selah

With these promises from Psalm 89 in mind, let us enter into 2026 knowing that God is faithful to His Chosen people and to all those who put their trust in the God of Israel. Let us also pray against the false doctrine of Replacement Theology that seeks to eradicate God’s plans and purposes for Israel and the Jewish people – God has NOT forsaken ANY of His Covenants!

  • Pray that CUFI will be effective in 2026 in countering the deception of Replacement Theology. Pray for more opportunities for CUFI to be able to share the truth about Israel – for more church invites and for more doors to open. Pray that Church leaders in the UK who teach Replacement Theology will have a conviction from Scripture, and may those who already stand with Israel be strengthened and have courage to speak boldly and compassionately about God’s wonderful plan for Israel.
  • Pray against the rise of antisemitism. The opening of a Palestinian embassy in London is another indicator that the UK is rewarding those who seek Israel’s destruction. It only emboldens radical Islamists and those who are calling for the wiping out of the Jewish people. Pray for the protection of the Jewish people in the UK and throughout the world.
  • Pray for Israel’s defence. The removal of Venezuela’s dictator has shaken the Iranian regime’s influence in South America and the Iran-Russia-China axis. This is because Hezbollah has been operating on a significant scale in Venezuela through the drug cartels and money laundering. While we don’t know what will happen next in this ever-changing world we are now living in, we must pray for Israel’s security and that Iran’s role as the world’s leading sponsor of terrorism in the world will be further dismantled.
  • Pray for the Iranian people. Many are putting their lives at great risk in defying the regime at this time of major upheaval in the country. Pray for their freedom.
  • Pray for CUFI’s plans to reach the next generation. Next week, CUFI UK announces a major new project to equip young people with the truth about Israel. We look forward to sharing this next week, but please cover this in prayer.
