In a shocking display of ignorance, Britain has joined Germany and France to create a direct trade channel with Iran in order to avoid US sanctions.

The three countries, who are signatories on 2015’s disastrous Iran Nuclear Deal have been working hard to create a legal loophole that allows them to keep funnelling money into the Iranian regime whilst avoiding US sanctions. Or at least, that is what they are trying to do.

British Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt, Germany Foreign Minister Heiko Maas and French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian announced what they called a “special purpose vehicle”  known as the Instrument in Support of Trade Exchanges (INSTEX). This is effectively a company that will be used for European companies to make trades with Iran.

The hope of the so-called “E3” is that companies will use INSTEX in order to keep trading with Iran whilst avoiding sanctions from the US. However, it is unclear at this point if many will actually use it.

The reason for that is because the United States is serious when it says it will take action against companies that trade with Iran. The EU has already failed to stop European companies from abandoning Iran. Last year some of Europe’s largest companies actually sided with America against the EU, even though the EU tried to make it illegal for them to do so.

The US State Department said on Thursday that it was “closely following” reports on the mechanism and made it clear that they mean business.

“As the president has made clear, entities that continue to engage in sanctionable activity involving Iran risk severe consequences that could include losing access to the U.S. financial system and the ability to do business with the United States or U.S. companies,” a State Department spokesperson said.

We are absolutely in favour of the US position on this issue and are dismayed and appalled that the UK has aligned itself with the European position, to the point where they are actively working against the US.

The foreign policy of the British government when it comes to Iran is appeasement. They hope that if they keep Iran happy by funnelling money into the country and that this will stop the Iranian dictators from trying to build a nuclear weapon. This is never going to happen. Instead, since the deal was made, the Islamic regime has gone on a spending spree, funnelling tens-of-millions of pounds into terrorist operations throughout the Middle East and enhanced its missile program (which is a direct violation of the deal).

British taxpayers money is being used to fund Iranian terrorism and endanger Israel. And what’s more, our government is actively doing all it can to work against our key ally, America, in order to keep funding the tyrannical regime that is Iran.

German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas explained this warped viewpoint when he said, “we have been looking for ways to obtain this agreement because we are firmly convinced that it serves our strategic security interests in Europe.”

“We do not want Iran to get out of this agreement and back into uranium enrichment. This has to do with our security interests in Europe,” he said.

As you can see, Germany, France and Britain, along with too many governments around the world, have a misunderstanding of the situation and are appeasing Iran instead of dealing with them properly like the Trump administration is doing.

The people of Iran want new leadership. They are fed up with dictators who are spending more money trying to destroy Israel than they are looking after their citizens. And unfortunately, this tyrannical regime is being propped up by Europe. Britain’s actions in this are truly shameful.
