Pro-regime militia groups surrounded the British embassy in Tehran on Sunday chanting “Death to Britain” and burning British and Israeli flags. The escalation follows Saturday’s detainment of the UK ambassador to Iran who was accused by the regime of involving in the anti-regime protests.

Meanwhile, more than 10,000 people have now signed CUFI’s petition calling for the UK government to withdraw from the disastrous Iran deal.

Anti-regime protests continued in Tehran today, but these crowds deliberately avoided walking over giant Israel and US flags that were placed on the floor to mock the Iranian regime’s enemies.

Those who chose to walk over them were booed by the majority of Iranian protesters who recognise that Iran’s problems do not rest with the West but with the totalitarian dictatorship.

Thousands of Iranians are courageously opposing the regime.

Later on Sunday, footage emerged of pro-regime gunmen opening fire on protesters. President Trump had sent a message of solidarity to the demonstrators on Saturday, tweeting: ‘There cannot be another massacre of peaceful protesters, nor an internet shutdown. The world is watching.’

Images on social media Sunday night showed a ‘militiaman’ holding a shotgun running away from the scene as a crowd gathered around a woman who was allegedly killed not far from the iconic Azadi Square.

Iran continues its aggressive and threatening behaviour towards two of Britain’s closest allies – Israel and the United States – and now is showing the world the same hatred for the UK. Surely it is time for the UK government to withdraw from the Iran deal, which the regime has blatantly breached several time.

CUFI is preparing to deliver the petition to the UK Foreign Office calling upon Britain to withdraw from the Iran Deal. It’s not too late to add your name!
