Iran, Hamas and the Palestinian Authority have all celebrated the departure of President Trump.

Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani on Wednesday hailed the departure of “tyrant” Donald Trump, saying

A “tyrant’s era came to an end and today is the final day of his ominous reign,” Rouhani said in televised remarks to his cabinet. “Someone for whom all of his four years bore no fruit other than injustice and corruption and causing problems for his own people and the world.”

During his presidency, Trump led a campaign of “maximum pressure” against Iran, pulling the US out of the disastrous nuclear deal with Tehran in 2018 and reimposing punishing sanctions.

Meanwhile, Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum said in a statement that “There are no regrets at the departure of Trump, as he has been the biggest source and sponsor of injustice, violence and extremism in the world and the direct partner of the Israeli occupation in the aggression against our people.”

Adding, “US President Joe Biden must reverse the course of misguided and unjust policies against our people and lay the foundations for security and stability in the region.”

A senior adviser to Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas, said on Thursday.

“We are waiting to hear about the new US administration’s policy to resolve the conflict, especially its position on settlements that increased during the term of the Trump administration, as well as the Judaization of Jerusalem,” Shaath told the PA’s official newspaper, Al-Ayyam. “Trump was the worst US president regarding the Palestinian issue. He was a disaster for the Palestinians.”
