“The IDF struck two terror targets in Gaza in response to rocket fire from the northern Gaza Strip that landed in Israeli territory and to an earlier launch that landed within the Gaza Strip,” an IDF spokesman said. “The IDF sees the terror organization Hamas as responsible for events in the Gaza Strip.”

The IDF said the strikes on Gaza had been carried out with tank fire and from an aerial vehicle.

At around 6:30 pm sirens sounded in the Shaar Hanegev Regional Council in the northwestern Negev. Security sources said no rockets fell in Israeli territory. An IDF spokesman said two rocket launches had been identified with both falling inside the Gaza Strip.

Later in the evening another launch was reported with rockets said to have fallen in open fields in Israeli territory.

Palestinians and security forces clashed earlier in the day along the Gaza border with reports of three Palestinians injured. Clashes were also reported throughout Judea and Samaria as Palestinians rioted following United States President Donald Trump’s declaration Wednesday night that the US recognizes Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.
