‘We will achieve the same result as in Afghanistan if we hand over control of the country to the Palestinians’

As the Islamist Taliban movement seized Kabul earlier this week, former prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke on Facebook, saying the United States had offered him to apply the Afghan model to the Palestinians.

“In 2013, I was contacted by then US Secretary of State John Kerry. He invited me on a secret visit to Afghanistan to see how the United States had established a local military force capable of fighting terrorism alone. The message was clear: the ‘Afghan model’ is the model that the United States also seeks to apply to the Palestinian cause,” he said.

“I politely declined the offer and predicted that as soon as the United States left Afghanistan everything would collapse. Unfortunately, that is what happened today: an extremist Islamic regime has conquered Afghanistan and will transform it into a terrorist state which will endanger world peace,” he continued.

“We will achieve the same result if, God forbid, we hand over control of the homeland to the Palestinians. The Palestinians will not establish Singapore. They will establish a terrorist state in Judea and Samaria,” Netanyahu predicted, referring to the West Bank by the term the Israeli government uses for it.

He also said that “the conclusion is clear: the right doctrine is the one I have led. We must not trust others to ensure our safety, we must defend ourselves against any threat.”
