In Psalm 83, Israel’s enemies declare, “Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation, that the name of Israel may be remembered no more.”

This is the wicked agenda of every antisemite who has wished to eradicate Israel from the face of the earth. The psalmist equates the enemies of Israel as “Your enemies” (meaning God’s enemies), and the Jewish people as “Your people”. This should stir Christians to realise that turning against Israel is turning against God Himself, and mistreating the Jewish people is opposing His people. The same Psalm accuses those who hate the God of Israel as taking “crafty counsel” and forming a “confederacy against You” after united consultation.

Right now, across the world, the propaganda machine against Israel is in overdrive. In multiple spheres, wrong counsel has turned hearts against Israel. “Crafty” is the right word used by the psalmist, because there is nothing sincere or truthful in the demonisation of Israel that we are seeing on campuses, on the streets of London, on social media, and in the halls of the UN. It is crafty because it is fuelled by hateful lies, deceit and manipulation. In this issue, we feature an article that highlights some of the ways that this antisemitic propaganda aimed at hurting Israel has manifested itself in the past and present. I trust that this will keep us alert and continue to hold Israel in our prayers in the battle for truth.

Meanwhile, in the Church, false teaching in the form of replacement theology seeks to “cut off” metaphorically Israel from being a nation. I believe that this is one of the most important issues facing the Church in Britain today, and should be resisted by every Christian.

This is why we have introduced the first in a series of articles titled Debunking Replacement Theology in our free magazine, Torch. In the latest issue, we dive straight into one of the most controversial questions in Church history: “Did the Jews kill Jesus?”. We explain why it is important to have a sound doctrine in response and look forward to debunking more challenging topics in this series. The magazine, which is free to read online or receive by post (UK-only), is packed with articles that will encourage, inspire, and equip you in your stand with Israel.
