Pray for Israel
It has been a very eventful week as Israel continues its military offensive against Hamas in Gaza. Hamas has suffered another major blow after an IDF strike is understood to have killed one of Hamas’s most influential chief commanders, , who was personally involved in the planning of the 7th October massacre. Analysts are reporting the Hamas are ‘against the ropes’ and that pressure is now mounting on Yahya Sinwar to agree to a deal with Israel that would include the release of hostages. Since the start of the war, more than half of Hamas’s leadership has been killed and support from Palestinian civilians is apparently dwindling. Pray that this will be a turning point in the war, leading to Israel’s victory over Hamas.
Israel was targeted by a Houthi drone from Yemen this week. It struck an apartment in Tel Aviv, killing one person and injuring several. This is the first time that the Houthis have attacked targets inside Israel itself. Pray against this on-going threat and that any further attempt by the Houthis will be thwarted. Continue to pray for the peace of Jerusalem!
The threat from Hezbollah also continues following the recent barrage of 200 rockets fired at northern Israel. We praise the Lord that this week Spanish police foiled a gang in Spain that was planning to make up to 1,000 ‘kamikaze’ drones and sell them to Hezbollah. It is reminder of the support that these terror proxies have among criminal gangs within Europe and why the West must continue to clamp down on Iranian-backed terror.
The new UK Foreign Secretary’s announcement that the UK will resume funding UNRWA raises serios questions whether Israel’s concerns about the link between Hamas and some UNRWA staff members has been completely understood. Not only did Israel identify 12 UNRWA staff that were personally involved in the 7th October attacks, but Hamas’s infiltration into the organization is well-embedded Even some released hostages reported being held at the homes of UNRWA staff members. This is in addition to the pre-existing concerns regarding UNRWA’s complicity in Hamas’s indoctrination of children in schools and the disproportionate funding of Palestinian refugees compared with refugees across the world. Pray that the UK government will not be misguided in this regard, but will hear Israel’s grievances with respect.
Here at CUFI, we have just released the latest issue of Torch magazine, packed with the truth about Israel. Please pray that this magazine will make an impact as it is distributed across the UK.
Other matters for prayer:
We praise the Lord that President Trump’s life was miraculously preserved on Saturday after the attempted assassination and that the former president gave honour to God for his survival. Pray that the Lord will continue to watch over him and keep him from harm. Pray for political and social stability in America, especially as the country approaches its elections in November. And most importantly, pray that the people of America will turn to God and seek His wisdom for the future of the nation.
The global I.T. outage has revealed how easily the world can be teetered into chaos. The attempted assassination of a presidential candidate, the crashing of dependent systems, and to some extent, the glimpse of civil unrest seen on the streets of Leeds and London this week, should prompt us in the seemingly-secure West to recognize the fragility of the world that we live in.
Let us hold firmly onto God’s Word.
Matthew 24:12-13 says,
“And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved.”
