We are increasingly hearing the lie that Israel and the Jewish people are not the “real” Israel. Our social media accounts are inundated with people saying they are “fake Jews” or that the modern state of Israel is an imposter that is pretending to be the Israel of the Bible.
Let us deal clearly with these claims. There is no prophecy or Scripture that speaks of a fake nation of Israel in the last days.
Read the Bible. Search the Scriptures from Genesis to Revelation. You will not find a single verse that speaks of a fake ethnic Israel, or an imposter nation of Israel, or a global conspiracy of counterfeit Jews.
It is simply not in the Bible.
Now, we expect to hear the lies and deceptions from those who hate Israel. For example, radical Islamists who spread lies about Israel because they want to see it destroyed. However, the lie is now infiltrating
This lie is not new. We have heard it for years from Islamists and anti-Israel activists who don’t believe the Bible. And we expect it from those who don’t know God, because as the Bible says, you either serve God or Satan, and Satan is the “Father of Lies”.
Shamefully, this lie is now being spread within the Church, particularly because it is being proliferated by online influencers who claim to be Bible-believing Christians, but who demonstrate a complete lack of Bible knowledge.
What we do see in Scripture:
- God scattered Israel to all parts of the world
- God preserved Israel wherever they were exiled
- God will regather Israel back to the land in the last days
The first two of those have been fulfilled, and the regathering is happening before our eyes.
So, let us look at the Scriptures that affirm the regathering of Israel and let’s trust God’s Word to dispel this lie.
Deuteronomy 30:3-5:
“That the Lord your God will bring you back from captivity, and have compassion on you, and gather you again from all the nations where the Lord your God has scattered you. If any of you are driven out to the farthest parts under heaven, from there the Lord your God will gather you, and from there He will bring you. Then the Lord your God will bring you to the land which your fathers possessed, and you shall possess it. He will prosper you and multiply you more than your fathers.”
Isaiah 11:11-12:
“It shall come to pass in that day
That the Lord shall set His hand again the second time
To recover the remnant of His people who are left,
From Assyria and Egypt,
From Pathros and Cush,
From Elam and Shinar,
From Hamath and the islands of the sea.
He will set up a banner for the nations,
And will assemble the outcasts of Israel,
And gather together the dispersed of Judah
From the four corners of the earth.”
Isaiah 43:5-6:
“Fear not, for I am with you;
I will bring your descendants from the east,
And gather you from the west;
I will say to the north, ‘Give them up!’
And to the south, ‘Do not keep them back!’
Bring My sons from afar,
And My daughters from the ends of the earth.”
Jeremiah 16:14-15:
‘God Will Restore Israel – “Therefore behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord, “that it shall no more be said, ‘The Lord lives who brought up the children of Israel from the land of Egypt,’ but, ‘The Lord lives who brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north and from all the lands where He had driven them.’ For I will bring them back into their land which I gave to their fathers.’
Jeremiah 23:7-8:
“Therefore, behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord, “that they shall no longer say, ‘As the Lord lives who brought up the children of Israel from the land of Egypt,’ but, ‘As the Lord lives who brought up and led the descendants of the house of Israel from the north country and from all the countries where I had driven them.’ And they shall dwell in their own land.”
Jeremiah 30:3:
“For behold, the days are coming,’ says the Lord, ‘that I will bring back from captivity My people Israel and Judah,’ says the Lord. ‘And I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it.’ ”
Jeremiah 31:8-10:
“Behold, I will bring them from the north country,
And gather them from the ends of the earth,
Among them the blind and the lame,
The woman with child
And the one who labors with child, together;
A great throng shall return there.
They shall come with weeping,
And with supplications I will lead them.
I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters,
In a straight way in which they shall not stumble;
For I am a Father to Israel,
And Ephraim is My firstborn.
“Hear the word of the Lord, O nations,
And declare it in the isles afar off, and say,
‘He who scattered Israel will gather him,
And keep him as a shepherd does his flock.’”
Ezekiel 11:17:
“Therefore say, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “I will gather you from the peoples, assemble you from the countries where you have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.” ’
Ezekiel 20:41-42:
“I will accept you as a sweet aroma when I bring you out from the peoples and gather you out of the countries where you have been scattered; and I will be hallowed in you before the Gentiles. Then you shall know that I am the Lord, when I bring you into the land of Israel, into the country for which I raised My hand in an oath to give to your fathers.”
Ezekiel 36:24:
“For I will take you from among the nations, gather you out of all countries, and bring you into your own land.”
Ezekiel 37:21-22:
“Then say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Surely I will take the children of Israel from among the nations, wherever they have gone, and will gather them from every side and bring them into their own land; and I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king over them all; they shall no longer be two nations, nor shall they ever be divided into two kingdoms again.”
Amos 9:14–15:
“I will bring back the captives of My people Israel;
They shall build the waste cities and inhabit them;
They shall plant vineyards and drink wine from them;
They shall also make gardens and eat fruit from them.
I will plant them in their land,
And no longer shall they be pulled up
From the land I have given them,”
Says the Lord your God.”
Zechariah 8:7-8:
“Thus says the Lord of hosts:
‘Behold, I will save My people from the land of the east
And from the land of the west;
I will bring them back,
And they shall dwell in the midst of Jerusalem.
They shall be My people
And I will be their God,
In truth and righteousness.’
Luke 21:24:
“And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.”
Acts 1:6-7:
“Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority.”
The Israel of today is the Israel of the Bible
The Bible is crystal clear that Israel will only be regathered once, and that it will be an act of God. Anyone saying otherwise is speaking lies that go against the Bible.
Also, note that the last two Scriptures that speak of the restoration of Israel and Jerusalem as both said by Jesus Christ Himself.
In Luke, Jesus was describing how Gentiles would trample temporarily on Jerusalem “until” the correct time. So there was always going to be Jews back in physical Jerusalem. This isn’t a spiritual Jerusalem. Otherwise, we Gentiles would be only allowed in temporarily.
Likewise, when the disciples ask him about Israel being restored as a kingdom, bearing in mind when Jesus walked the Earth it was occupied by the Romans. Jesus didn’t tell them that the kingdom of Israel is now a spiritual matter, or that Israel is the Church. No! Jesus effectively said, “not yet”. Jesus knew God would restore the kingdom of Israel but that the time wasn’t for them to know when it was.
These were part of the last recorded words Jesus said before He ascended into Heaven. So the disciples knew that God’s plan was to bring about the restoration of the kingdom of Israel.
The Bible is clear there is only going to be one Jewish nation that will regather in the land of Israel, and that is the Israel we see today. In Isaiah 66 God promises to vindicate Zion in the latter days and that the nation will be reborn in a day. That prophecy was fulfilled in 1948. Israel was reborn as a nation in a day.
God is clear in His Word about Israel. Satan is the ‘Father of Lies’ who is trying to rob, steal, kill, and destroy. Don’t allow the lies of the enemy to cloud your view of Israel. If anyone is speaking against these promises of God above, they’re not speaking God’s truth, but Satan’s lies.
God’s Word is truth and it will not return void!
