On Monday, Kasim Hafeez, Christians United for Israel’s (CUFI) Middle East Analyst, addressed diplomats at a meeting of the United Nations Human Right Council (UNHRC) in Geneva, Switzerland. The United States and Israel are among the nations who are not members of the UNHRC, which maintains a disproportionate focus and unending hostility towards Israel. Hafeez spoke about the rampant anti-Semitism driving the UN body, which has spread across the globe in recent years.

“CUFI is appalled by the rise of global anti-Semitism. It is an intolerable threat to the Jewish people and the Jewish state. Today, the world’s worst human rights abusers and anti-Israel international elite who sit on the UNHRC, heard loudly and clearly what people around the world think of their appalling obsession with attacking Israel. While this will not move them off hatred’s path, CUFI will take every opportunity to shine the light of truth into such a dark place,” said CUFI founder and Chairman Pastor John Hagee.

Full transcript of Hafeez’s comments:

My name is Kasim Hafeez. I was raised a radical Muslim, and was taught to hate Jews and Israel from a young age. Hatred was so ingrained in my identity that in my early twenties, I decided that terrorism – murdering civilians who did not see the world as I did in order to advance my agenda – was my calling.

But then I learned the truth. I came to know that what I had been taught about Jews was wrong. I visited Israel and saw for myself that the media reports and international condemnations of the Jewish state were lies. Israel is a free and democratic state. Its citizens are accorded full human and civil rights.

As this body recently displayed by brazenly lying about Israel’s actions in Gaza, hatred towards the Jewish state persists. It is fueled by a wave of anti-Semitism sweeping across Europe, the U.S., the Middle East and elsewhere. This council has repeatedly demonised Israel while ignoring Palestinian terror attacks and the real victims of human rights abuses across the globe.

But, make no mistake, those who foster anti-Semitism at the UN – at this council – who build their careers and foreign policy on a foundation of Jew hatred will be judged harshly by history.

When you demonise the Jewish state, it is a reflection of your moral bankruptcy and nothing more.

I know, because I was once just as wrong.
