CUFI has renewed calls for the UK government to proscribe the IRGC “immediately” following the escalation of incitement and attacks against the Jewish community.
“The ongoing threat from the Iranian regime to the UK, particularly against British Jews, can no longer be ignored,” it states.
“Christians, rise up,” CUFI urges supporters, urging them to write to their MP, “Protect the Jewish community by calling upon the government to ban the IRGC immediately.”
In April, the Prime Minister announced that he is planning to proscribe the IRGC in the next Parliament. CUFI has been campaigning for the IRGC to be banned for several years and is now calling for this to be enacted without any further delay.
“The threat from the Iranian regime to the UK, particularly against British Jews, is no longer on the horizon. It is now very much present. Some political leaders seem to have run out of ideas for how to counter the rise of antisemitism. There is something practical that can be done without any delay – banning the IRGC.”
It follows the outrageous appeal this week by the Iranian Embassy in London calling upon Iranians living in Britain to register to become “martyrs” for their evil jihadist cause.
The letter to MPs states, “The Iranian regime must be prevented from trying to recruit terrorists on British soil. Islamist groups linked with the Iranian regime have claimed responsibility for firebombing attacks against London’s Jewish community. And there has been continued incitement and attacks against Jews.
“It is a travesty that despite all the atrocities committed by the Iranian regime, past and present, the IRGC is still not banned in the United Kingdom. Without proscription, it is possible for the IRGC to operate in the UK and for entities and individuals to support the group’s aims, finance and recruit for the IRGC, and advance the malignant ambitions of the Iranian regime, including the desire to destroy Israel.”
Appealing to supporters to act, CUFI states, “Christians in Britain, we need to rise up. On behalf of the Jewish community, for the sake of the values we share in common, and to secure the safety and freedom that we all treasure. There is not a moment to lose. Will you act today?”
