The administration of US President Joe Biden is set to announce this week its plan to rejoin the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC), the Associated Press reported on Monday.

The report cited US officials as saying that on Monday, State Secretary Blinken will announce that the US is rejoining the body as an observer.

From there, Washington will work to restore its full member status at the body.

If materialized, the move will come as another reversal of the policies of Biden’s predecessor, former President Donald Trump, who pulled the US out of the body in 2018.
