The BBC has sacked a journalist who produced videos on the recent Israel-Gaza conflict after it emerged her past tweets came to light.

The UK’s national broadcaster confirmed to the Jewish Chronicle this week that Tala Halawa “no longer works for the BBC”.

Halawa was a Palestine Specialist for BBC monitoring and in 2014 wrote that “Israel is more Nazi than Hitler” along with the hashtag “Hitler was right”. She followed this up by saying the Israeli Defence Force should “go to hell”.

The antisemitic statements were posted on Twitter prior to Ms Halawa joining the national broadcaster in 2017, however, it appears her anti-Israel bias was present in some of her work for the BBC.

Ms Halawa’s tweets were brought to light last month and the BBC launched an investigation which resulted in her losing her job.
