We long to see the UK getting back to winning ways. However, one area that we really don’t want to see the UK topping lists is when it comes to hate crimes against Jews. Shamefully, Britain now tops one category: violent antisemitism assaults per capita.
In 2025, a J7 report showed that out of the largest Jewish diasporas, the UK was in the lead for violent assaults on Jews. In August 2026, CST reported that those violent assaults have seen an 82% year-over-year increase.
That’s right, despite government promises and increased spending on security, things are getting worse for British Jews!
According to an analysis of the J7 report by Israel’s Ministry of Diaspora Affairs, Britain recorded the highest per-capita rate of antisemitic assaults among the world’s seven largest Jewish diaspora communities in 2025.
For reference, the J7 countries are Argentina, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, the USA, and the UK. These countries account for more than 90% of Jews living outside of Israel.
The Community Security Trust (CST), which handles antisemitic incidents in the UK, reported in August that the first six months of 2026 have seen 1,926 anti-Jewish hate incidents. This is an increase of 21%, up from 1,598 in the first half of 2025.
The total came out to an average of 321 monthly incidents, which is nearly double the figure of attacks before Hamas-led October 7th invasion of Israel.
The largest increase, in terms of percentage, came from physical assaults on Jews. We have seen 135 recorded assaults this year so far, which is 82% more than the same period last year.
We all saw the headlines in April when two visibly Jewish men were stabbed in Golders Green. This was clearly a shocking example of this, which highlighted the evil that Jews face. Now, we are seeing statistics back up our worst fears.
Other areas are also up. Incidents against schools jumped 59% to 178, while synagogue-related attacks increased by 31%, according to the CST. These included the series of arson attacks on London synagogues, including the Hatzola ambulances being burned.
“These attacks should concern everyone who cares about Britain and the threats against it, whether state-directed from Iran, or internally driven by Islamist, far Right, far Left, or other ideological extremes,” the CST’s chief executive Mark Gardner said.
“These attacks are directed against British Jews, but they are also attacks on Britain and our society.”
The UK’s policing minister Sarah Jones called the latest numbers “appalling,” adding “we must never stop fighting to rid society of this evil.”
“Antisemitism goes against our country’s values and I will do everything in my power to protect our Jewish communities,” she said.
Jones pointed to the government’s recent announcement that it would spend £250 million over the next three years to better protect Jewish communities, providing additional officers to help protect schools, synagogues and community centres.
That figure is astronomical, especially for a Jewish population that is roughly around 300,000 people.
For reference, the UK government allocated a record £40 million to protect mosques, Muslim community centres and Muslim faith schools. Bear in mind the UK has roughly 4 million Muslims, and around 300,000 Jews.
That means Muslims require far less money to protect them, despite there being far more of them to protect. Why? Because Jews are multiple times more likely to be attacked for being Jewish than any other faith group is for their religion.
Despite this, government ministers always feel the need to lump antisemitism together with ‘Islamophobia’, despite them being very different things. Muslims, like Christians, have very little to worry about when it comes to living safely in the UK. Jews, on the other hand, have a lot to worry about.
As Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp said, this is a national emergency.
“Thousands of Jewish families living in fear in their own country, and it is completely unacceptable,” said Philp. “Antisemitism has no place in Britain and real action needs to be taken to stamp it out. This is a national emergency.”
We agree.
As Christians, we far outweigh the Jewish community in terms of numbers. That’s why we must stand as allies with our Jewish friends to be a voice for them in this fight. We cannot allow them to stand alone.
We must pray for our Jewish community in this nation. We must show them we love them at every opportunity. And we must tell our elected officials that they must do more to stop this.
Britain’s Jews are a blessing to this nation. Our nation cannot afford for this to continue. God was not bluffing when He said He would “bless those who bless you, and curse those who curse you.” He was talking about Israel; the Jewish people.
We take God at His word. That is why the Church must not keep silent on this issue.
