Today, Israel is having an election to decide the members of the next Knesset. Israel’s political system is quite different to the UK. We are praying today for Israel, and we are also highlighting a key fact.

Did you know? Israel is the only country in the Middle East that allows Palestinians to vote in democratic elections!

That’s right. Israel is the world’s only Jewish state, but it has a 20% Arab population. As the Middle East’s only true democracy, those Arabs have equal voting rights with Jews.

Some Arabs living in Israel are Christians. Some are Muslims who are proudly Israeli or identify as “Israeli Arabs”. But many see themselves as “Palestinian Arabs” or “Palestinian Israelis”.

Regardless of how they identify themselves, if they are an Israeli citizen, they are allowed to vote.

The Palestinian Authority (PA), however, does not allow a single Palestinian to vote! Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian President (perhaps better described as a dictator), has ruled over the Palestinians in the West Bank (Judea and Samaria) for over 20 years.

Shockingly, it was only in September that Abbas gave a message to the United Nations where he promised that Palestinian elections would really happen this year. He was lying! The PA cancelled them in October, just weeks after announcing it to the world; such is the duplicitous nature of Israel’s enemies.

So just think about this for a moment. Israel allows more ‘Palestinians’ to vote than the Palestinians themselves!

More than this, Israel is the only true democracy in the region. Therefore, Israel gives Muslims and Arabs more democratic voting rights than any Islamic or Arabic country in the Middle East!

So many people are deceived. The Muslim world is convinced that they must hate the Jews because of the lie that Jews are the oppressors of Muslims. The world has been tricked into believing that Israel is subjugating the Middle East. The reality is that Israel is the only free country in the Middle East!

We are praying for Israel today as her people go to the polls. We pray that God’s hand will be upon this election. We pray that Godly men and women will be elected and will serve the people of Israel in righteousness. And we pray that this election will open people’s eyes to the truth that Israel is a light in a dark and stormy region.

May God bless Israel today and always.
