“He is the LORD our God;
His judgments are in all the earth.
He has remembered His covenant forever,
The word which He commanded to a thousand generations,
The covenant which He made with Abraham,
And His oath to Isaac.
Then He confirmed it to Jacob for a statute,
To Israel as an everlasting covenant,
Saying, ‘To you I will give the land of Canaan
As the portion of your inheritance,'”
(Psalms 105:7-11)
The Scripture above is a Psalm that recounts the promises of God to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them the land of Israel ‘forever’. God commanded it to ‘a thousand generations’, which is over 40,000 years! Jesus did not abolish this promise. The New Testament does not contradict this, just read Romans 11. And the Scripture above is just one of many that affirm the Jewish people’s right to the land of Israel.
As Christians, we must keep reminding ourselves of the truth of God’s Word. So many are being led astray by false teaching and misunderstanding of the Bible, Christians are turning against Israel because they are believing the lies of the enemy. We shouldn’t be surprised because Bible tells us that in the End Times many people will be deceived, even the elect, and that the whole world will turn against Israel.
This week, we just wanted to reflect on God’s promise before sharing the prayer points, so that we can all be reminded that Israel is alive and dwelling in the land today because God keeps His promises. It should reassure Christians that because God has been faithful to the Jewish people, He will also be faithful to we who are grafted in. Hallelujah!
Here are this week’s prayer points:
Pray for President Donald Trump. Pray that God will guide President Trump in all his dealings with Israel’s neighbours. Pray that he will remain a steadfast friend for Israel and that God will use him and his administration for His glory and Israel’s wellbeing.
Pray for Israelis in Europe. We have seen increased antagonism for Israelis throughout Europe. This week alone there was an attempt by Palestinian protesters to knock an Israeli cyclist off his bike in Italy as he competed in a race, vile death threats and protests against Israel’s Eurovision entry, and the warnings that Israel has issued telling Israelis in Europe to hide their identity because it isn’t safe. These are all deeply troubling times. We must pray for God’s protection over His people, and for the governments of Europe to take meaningful action to stop this.
Pray for Israel’s legal challenges at the International Criminal Court (ICC). Pray that the cases against Israel will be overturned. Pray that the corrupt judges and leaders of the ICC will be exposed and removed for their anti-Israel hatred and any illegal actions they have committed.
Pray for UK schools. The UK education minister’s raising of the alarm that antisemitism is rising and that Holocaust education needs to increase to counter it should concern all of us. Ultimately, we are praying for revival in our classrooms because the only way to properly counter this hatred is with the love of Christ. We pray that the next generation will turn away from the lies of the enemy and instead seek the truth of God’s Word.
Pray for the children of the murdered Israeli mother The shocking news that an Israeli mother was shot dead by terrorists as she was in labour and making her way to the hospital is another eye opening incident to the evils of Hamas. Please pray that the baby, that was delivered by c-section, will make a complete recovery. Pray also for the woman’s other children and her husband who are now having to adapt to life without their mother/wife. Pray that this incident will be used to open people’s eyes to the truth.
Pray for the work of CUFI. We have increasing challenges and an ever growing list of campaigns, and yet we are only a small team. Pray that we will be able to effectively combat antisemitism in the UK, turn the Church back to the truth of the Bible, and show God’s love to the Jewish community.
