This weekend, we want to give thanks for the Jewish people’s return to their homeland and for God’s hand in it.

Monday is Aliyah Day (Yom HaAliyah), which commemorates when the Jews first entered the land of Israel and celebrates the prophetic fulfilment of Jews returning to the land in these Last Days.

So let’s give praise to God and thank Him for all He has done for His people.

Praise the Lord that God gave the Jewish people a land.

God knew that His people would need a homeland which they could dwell in and have safety in. That’s why in Genesis 12:7 God promised Abram, “To your offspring, I will give this land.” God knows the needs of His people and provides for them.

Praise the Lord that God brought His people back to their land just as He promised:

“I will bring back My people Israel from exile. They will rebuild the ruined cities and live in them; they will plant vineyards and drink their wine; they will make gardens and eat their fruit.” (Amos 9:14)

God is the one who brought His people back to the land. In 1948, the world witnessed prophecy being fulfilled. We are still seeing that fulfilment today with every Jew returning. Israel is physical proof that God’s Word is true.

Praise the Lord that God is blessing the Jewish people in their homeland.

Not only did God promise the Jewish people a land, but He promises to bless the Jews there with supernatural blessings. “The Lord will command the blessing on you in your storehouses and in all to which you set your hand, and He will bless you in the land which the Lord your God is giving you,” (Deuteronomy 28:8). Praise the Lord for His provision for His people.

Praise the Lord that Christians and Jews can be assured that God keeps His promises:

“The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of His heart to all generations.” (Psalm 33:11)

God’s keeping of His promises to the Jews is another reason Christians can be assured of the promises God has made to us. God is a promise making and promise keeping God, and we thank the Lord today and every day that He keeps His promises to us.

Praise the God that He is the defender of Israel:

“I will firmly plant them there in their own land. They will never again be uprooted from the land I have given them,” says the LORD your God. (Amos 9:15)

The nations are raging against Israel and are trying to wipe out Israel so that its “name be remembered no more” (Psalm 83), but God promised that the Jewish people will never be uprooted again from the land because He has firmly planted them in it. It does not matter how many armies or nations Satan uses to try and destroy Israel because Israel has a secret weapon: God Almighty!

“The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.” (Exodus 14:14)

We thank God that He is fighting for His people. Praise the Lord for Israel’s miraculous victories against all odds and for the reassurance we have that Israel will never be defeated.
