Happy Aliyah Day!
On Monday, 7 April 2025, Jews in Israel and around the world celebrate Yom HaAliyah (Aliyah Day), a national holiday recognising the Jewish people’s historic entry into the land and their prophetic return.
This special day coincides with the Torah portion Lech Lecha (Genesis 12:1-3), where God commands Abram:
“Go from your country, your family, and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great, and you shall be a blessing.” (Genesis 12:1-2)
This divine calling was the beginning of the Jewish people’s eternal connection to the Land of Israel—a connection reaffirmed by biblical prophecy and history.
The Fulfilment of Prophecy
For over 2,000 years, the Jewish people were scattered among the nations, yet their longing for Zion never faded. Those who claim that Zionism is either secular or new have no idea of the depth of history. God is the originator of Zionism. He founded the Jewish people and established Zion as their home.
Jews throughout the centuries prayed daily for their return to Israel. They pleaded with God to allow them to return, and they ensured they never forgot Jerusalem, just as the Psalmist penned:
“If I forget you, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget its skill! If I do not remember you, let my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth—if I do not exalt Jerusalem above my chief joy.” (Psalm 137:5-6)
Today, their return (Aliyah) is the fulfilment of God’s promises spoken through the prophets:
“I will bring back My people Israel from exile. They will rebuild the ruined cities and live in them; they will plant vineyards and drink their wine; they will make gardens and eat their fruit.” (Amos 9:14)
“I will bring you back into the land of Israel.” (Ezekiel 37:12)
A Nation Restored
Aliyah is not just immigration—it is a homecoming, a spiritual restoration, and a miracle unfolding before our eyes. Every Jewish person who returns to Israel is a living testimony to God’s faithfulness. God promised He will never abandon His people whom He foreknew.
Israel lives because the God of Israel lives, and the Jewish people will never be without a homeland again. The world has witnessed the miraculous rebirth of a nation, just as Isaiah prophesied:
“Can a nation be born in a day? Or shall a nation be brought forth in a moment? Yet no sooner was Zion in labour than she gave birth to her children.” (Isaiah 66:8)
The Ingathering Continues
Since 1948, a growing number of Jews have returned to the land. Today, Israel is home to the largest Jewish population on earth, and that number is growing every year. Israel is a place where all Jews are welcome and can apply for citizenship from every nation.
Most Jews are returning of their own accord. Sadly, however, antisemitism has played a role in driving Jews to Israel. The Mizrahi Jews, for example, were around 800,000 Middle Eastern Jews who were expelled from Muslim-majority countries following the rebirth of Israel.
Israel has also carried out daring missions to bring Jewish communities home, from the Holocaust survivors of Europe to the lost tribes of Africa and Asia. One of the most incredible rescue efforts was Operation Solomon, where over 14,000 Ethiopian Jews were airlifted to Israel in just 36 hours.
Christians United for Israel has also been involved in supporting Jews making Aliyah to Israel. Most recently, CUFI helped pay for accommodation and flights for Ukrainian Jews to escape the war zone and make Aliyah to Israel.
Christians around the world are helping Bible prophecy be fulfilled as we assist in the regathering of Israel. We are God’s hands and feet on this earth and we are so blessed to be standing with and blessing the Jewish people as they return to their homeland.
May the Jewish people continue to return and prosper in their homeland. And may Christians continue to stand united for Israel.
