“I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people Who have set themselves against me round about. Arise, O Lord; save me, O my God! For You have smitten all my enemies on the cheek; You have shattered the teeth of the wicked. Salvation belongs to the Lord; Your blessing be upon Your people!” (Psalm 3:6-8)

This week we saw thousands of Palestinian men hoarding around an innocent Israeli woman, tormenting her until the very last moments of her captivity. These scenes sparked outrage in Israel and hopefully opened people’s eyes to the true barbarity of Hamas and its supporters.

Since the beginning of Israel’s history, they have had to rely upon the Lord for their protection. God promised to defend Israel, and He wouldn’t have made that promise if there wasn’t a need. He also called on Christians to be watchmen over Israel and to give him no rest with our prayers.

This week we are doing just that. As the Scripture above says, we are asking God: Please save the hostages, help the Jewish people to not be afraid, and bless your people, Israel!

Here are this week’s prayer points:

  • Praise the Lord that more Israeli hostages have been released, including the five Thai hostages. We pray for the recovery of each one of these precious men and women.
  • Pray for the remaining hostages who are still held in captivity. Pray that the upcoming releases will go smoothly and without intimidation. Pray also that every last one of the hostages will see the light of freedom once again and that God will be glorified in their release.
  • Pray for the families of the remaining hostages who still don’t know whether their loved ones are alive or dead. And weather the current ceasefire will hold for long enough to bring their dear ones home. The uncertainty must be agonising. Pray for peace to surround them all.
  • Pray that God will give strength to Israel as a nation. Pray that they will not have a spirit of fear but be filled with faith in the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. God will never fail His people, and we pray the Jewish people will draw closer to Him during this time.
  • Pray for CUFI’s ‘Voices of the Holocaust’ project. We have already sent out over 100 physical packs to people, and more digitally. Please pray that this will make a meaningful impact in Churches around the country, that they will not only better understand the antisemitism of the past, but be inspired to stand with Israel against antisemitism in the present.
