“For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, ‘He catches the wise in their own craftiness.’” – 1 Corinthians 3:19
The Scripture above is applicable to many aspects of life. In today’s world, there are many political views and worldly opinions which run counter to the truth of God’s Word. And there is a spiritual battle for truth in many areas. Israel is no exception.
God sees Israel as a blessing to the world, but the world sees Israel as a curse. God sees Jews as the owners of the land, but the world sees Jews as being colonisers and thieves. God sees Jerusalem as the place which is set apart for the Jewish people where He will rule and reign, but the world sees Jerusalem as a city for all people and all religions. The list goes on.
This is why it’s important that we as Christians guard our hearts from false teachings and use the Bible as the lens through which we view the news surrounding Israel.
With this in mind, let us pray for Israel, for the Church, and for our nation.
- Pray for the Church in Britain to arise at this time as a voice for truth. May we have the courage to challenge the wisdom of the world with Biblical truth.
- Pray that Christian leaders in Britain and around the world, including Archbishop Welby, the Pope, and others, will repent for being misled by worldly wisdom and will turn back to the wisdom of God. Pray they will understand the truth about Israel (and other matters) and be a voice for God’s truth against ungodly institutions and forces of darkness that are subverting God’s plans on earth.
- Pray that our leaders in Britain and other Western nations will wake up and have the scales removed from their eyes. Pray that the Church will influence governments to stand with Israel and for Biblical truth. Pray that Britain will remain a friend of Israel, will bless Israel, and turn away from the course it is on which harms the UK-Israel relationship.
- Pray that the UK government will defend its people from evil. That Hamas propaganda will be removed from our streets. That open support for terrorism will be cracked down on. That lies and misinformation will be removed from our airways. And that Biblical truth will be allowed to flourish without restriction.
- Pray for Israel’s leaders, that they will be wise when dealing with the pressures from the world. Pray they will make the correct decisions in preserving life and bring about peace, whilst not damaging the security of Israel.
- Pray for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) as they defend the Jewish state against forces of evil. Pray they will have the resources, intelligence, and courage needed to keep Israel safe.
- Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
