My enemies speak evil of me:
“When will he die, and his name perish?”
And if he comes to see me, he speaks lies;
His heart gathers iniquity to itself;
When he goes out, he tells it.
All who hate me whisper together against me;
Against me they devise my hurt.
“An evil disease,” they say, “clings to him.
And now that he lies down, he will rise up no more.”
Even my own familiar friend in whom I trusted,
Who ate my bread,
Has lifted up his heel against me.
(Psalm 41:5-9)

 Israel’s enemies are speaking evil. All who hate Israel are whispering together. Israel’s familiar friends are raising up their heel against the Jewish state.

Every day we are seeing more clearly the good vs evil battle that exists when supporting Israel.

Many of those who, for decades, have painted themselves as being peacemakers who support ‘justice’ for the Palestinians have now come out openly glorifying the death of Yahya Sinwar, the terrorist leader who is responsible for October 7th. Their praise of this Hamas leader revealed what we knew all along. Their cause was not about saving Palestinians but destroying Israel.

More than this, nations who have been hostile to Israel have increased their support for Israel’s enemies. Russia was found to have given missile guidance equipment to the Houthis. China has pledged its support for Iran. Turkey also keeps showing support for Hamas.

Likewise, many nations that are supposed to be friends of Israel are not acting in a friendly manner.

We learned this week that Israel withdrew from striking Iran because its closest ally (USA) leaked its plans. Also, this week the United Nations admitted that some of its own UNRWA employees were Hamas terrorists. These are people who used the UN as a shield, and whom the UN shielded, even condemning Israel for their deaths.

The UK is no better. The Labour government, which claims to be a staunch ally of Israel, has now restarted funding the terror-infested institution of UNWRA, whilst simultaneously stopping arms exports to Israel.

The enemies of Israel are united. The friends of Israel are deceived. And Israel is largely standing alone in this battle. But that’s not where this Bible verse ends.

But You, O Lord, be merciful to me, and raise me up,
That I may repay them.
By this I know that You are well pleased with me,
Because my enemy does not triumph over me.
As for me, You uphold me in my integrity,
And set me before Your face forever.
Blessed be the Lord God of Israel
From everlasting to everlasting!
Amen and Amen.
(Psalm 41:10-13)

Praise God that despite the foolishness of Israel’s allies, and the wickedness of Israel’s enemies, the God of Israel is still upon His throne, and He will always defend His people.

Here are the prayer points for this week:

  • Praise the Lord that the wickedness of Israel’s enemies is being exposed, slowly, but surely. We pray that the light of truth will continue to shine upon the evil of Hamas, the deception of Al Jazeera and other misguided media outlets, and upon the corruption of the United Nations.
  • Pray that the plans of Israel’s enemies, and those who support them, will be thwarted. We pray that no weapon formed against Israel will prosper.
  • Pray that Israel’s allies in the Western world will wake up to the reality that Israel is the frontline defence against their own enemies. Pray that Western leaders will stand shoulder to shoulder with Israel without compromise.
  • Pray for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) as they valiantly defend Israel from the threats of Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, and the Iranian regime. May God guide their hands in battle and help them to maintain morality and justice even though they are fighting against evil.
  • Pray for the families of all those who have lost their lives defending Israel. This week, at least six Israeli soldiers were killed in Lebanon as they fought against Hezbollah terrorists and three Israeli soldiers were killed in Gaza battling Hamas. Each one of them was courageously defending their families, their people, and the land that God gave them.
