“Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them: ‘Any kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and a house divided against itself will fall.’”
(Luke 11:17)

When Jesus was casting out demons, the Pharisees accused him of using the power of Satan to do it. Jesus confronted their blasphemy head-on, saying, “If Satan also is divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand?” (Luke 11:18).Satan has more sense than to group his underlings into warring factions. In fact, one thing we see from the nature of the enemy is that they are all united in their objectives against God and His people.

This is why we see “unholy alliances” between groups who do not agree on many issues, but they unite for the ‘Palestinian Cause’.

God’s Kingdom is not divided. The remnant Church in Britain is united in its support for Israel, just as it is united in defence of our Judeo-Christian heritage, including the authority of the Bible. Sadly, there are many who claim to submit to God, but are not teaching the truth of His Word.

The Church of England is a house divided

Sadly, the Church of England (CofE) appears to be a house that is divided, particularly when it comes to Israel. Not only is the CofE now largely into Replacement Theology, but its leadership are advocates for the anti-Israel cause.

Following the UK Government’s announcement of a “reset” in relations with Israel and the issuing of sanctions, the main leaders of the CofE all gave their support to this unholy act.

The Archbishop of York, Stephen Cottrell, bizarrely said the Government was taking a “principled” approach towards Israel.

The Archbishop of Gloucester, Rachel Treweek, shamefully said the Government’s sanctions on Israel “reflect God’s justice, love and mercy.”

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Sarah Mullally, last week met with the Jewish community to hear their concerns over the Kairos documents, which the CofE has voted to share with all its members, and she acknowledged there were areas of disagreement.

Shockingly, Mullally also last week honoured an Islamist cleric with an interfaith award because of his alleged work against extremism. It turns out, however, that the imam himself was an extremist who supports suicide bombings and had even awarded Osama Bin Laden with the “Shield of Allah”.

Yes, Lambeth Palace has rescinded the award. But that doesn’t change the fact that they were duped, very easily, by someone so ungodly.

God is not mocked. It is no surprise that the Church of England has been left with egg on its face over this situation.

The significance of 9/11 and Rosh Hashanah

Even more interesting is that this act of betrayal happened on the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, which also happened to coincide with the Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashanah).

Remarkably, this was the first time that Rosh Hashanah has fallen on 11 September since 2001, and it just so happened to be the week that both the UK Government and the Church of England stood shoulder to shoulder with Palestinian terrorism and turned their backs on Israel.

Just to remind you that it was Osama Bin Laden and the terrorists of Al Qaeda who carried out the attacks on the Twin Towers, with Bin Laden stating categorically that “American support for Israel” was one of his main motivating factors for the attack.

The spirit behind the 9/11 attacks is alive and well today. The claim of radical Islam of “first the Saturday people and then the Sunday people”, which is against God’s people (Jews and Christians), is the objective of the Palestinian Cause.

The CofE must repent before it is too late

The Church of England is no longer defending Biblical truth. They are not only allowing the erosion of the Judeo-Christian foundations of Britain, but in many ways, they are championing the cause.

As Jesus said, a house divided against itself cannot stand. Satan is not divided. Satan has united all his forces against Israel and against God. That’s why we have false teachers preaching falsehoods.

Likewise, God is the “God of Israel” and the “Defender of Israel.” He cannot go against the nation that He has promised to protect. God cannot break His promises to Israel.

One of the key Scriptures we use to defend our Biblical stance on Israel is Romans 11. The Apostle Paul makes it absolutely clear that God has not rejected the Jewish people, specifically identifying Israel.

At the end of his letter to the Romans, Paul gives a warning to those who preach against the words he is teaching.

“Now I urge you, brethren, keep your eye on those who cause dissensions and hindrances contrary to the teaching which you learned, and turn away from them. For such men are slaves, not of our Lord Christ but of their own appetites; and by their smooth and flattering speech they deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting.”
(Romans 16:17-18)

Paul does not mince his words. We must be cautious of those who teach a message different to that which he and the Apostles taught. The Church of England is a house divided against itself. In its current state, it cannot stand.

Prayer Points:

Pray for the Church of England: Pray that they will repent of the sin of replacement theology, that they will turn away from cursing Israel and instead be true friends of the Jewish people. And pray that they will turn away from their own understanding and instead submit themselves to the authority of God’s Word. May God have mercy on them and upon our nation.

Pray for the remnant Church: Pray that Churches that are standing on the authority of God’s Word will stand up and speak out to defend the Biblical truth about Israel. We know there are millions of Christians who submit to God’s authority here in Britain. We pray that their voices will be heard.

Pray for CUFI: We are challenging the anti-Israel attitudes of the established Church and the UK Government head-on. Our team needs more support now than ever before. Please pray that CUFI UK will grow, that more Christians will connect with our mission, that we will turn back the tide of replacement theology in the Church, and that our campaigns will have a positive impact in challenging the misguided actions of our Government.
