“Something happened that was supernatural”
Abdollah Ganji, the former editor of the IRGC-linked newspaper Javan, told his 150,000 followers on X that a “strange phenomenon” had taken place during the 12-day war. He claimed that Israel used “supernatural” forces in its war with the Iranian regime. He claimed that the supernatural forces were used in Israel’s espionage efforts. Those efforts, of course, contributed to the Jewish state’s incredible success it setting back the Iranian regime and their nuclear weapon capability.
On one hand the Iranian official is completely off-track, because he defines the ‘supernatural’ as more similar to the occultic practice of Jinn in Islam. But on the other hand, it is interesting that he recognised something happened that was unexplainable in the natural.
As believers in the God of the miraculous, and as people of faith in the One True God, we can recognise that the ‘supernatural’ that he speaks of is God’s hand of deliverance. The espionage that Israel carried out was not ‘trickery’, but plans devised through masterful wisdom and discernment that caused Israel’s enemies confusion.
The Bible promises to give wisdom to those who ask it, and we believe that God answers prayer. In fact, the Bible gives evidence of God intervening for His people in ways that seem unfathomable to our human understanding.
For example,
In Exodus 23:27, the LORD promised the Israelites, “I will send My fear before you, I will cause confusion among all the people to whom you come, and will make all your enemies turn their backs to you”
Deuteronomy 28:7 says, “The Lord will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before your face; they shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways.”
Psalm 68:1, “Let God arise, let His enemies be scattered; let those also who hate Him flee before Him.”
Isaiah 41:11-12, “Behold, all those who were incensed against you shall be ashamed and disgraced; they shall be as nothing, and those who strive with you shall perish. You shall seek them and not find them—those who contended with you. Those who war against you shall be as nothing, as a nonexistent thing.”
May these Scriptures be an encouragement to you as you continue to pray for Israel in its current challenges. Israel faces threats on multiple fronts and the IDF continues to act preemptively and decisively against Hamas, against the Iranian regime and their proxies, and against the threat from the Syrian regime (and other jihadist groups) towards the Druze community in Syria. As they defend the nation of Israel, let us stand firm and believe in faith that the God of Israel is the God of the miraculous.
