The latest flotilla by pro-Palestinian activists to attempt to break Israel’s maritime “blockade” has been intercepted by the Israeli navy on Wednesday. There are thankfully no reports of any casualties.

The Women’s Boat to Gaza, part of the International Freedom Flotilla Coalition (IFFC), was intercepted by the Israeli navy on Wednesday after it attempted to reach Gaza. The boat, the Zaytouna-Olivia, was scheduled to reach Gaza on Wednesday evening, but it was instead intercepted by the navy and is being redirected to the port of Ashdod in Israel.

There are said to be between 13 and 15 female passengers on board the Zaytouna-Olivia including several parliamentarians, an Olympic athlete, a retired U.S. army colonel and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Mairead Maguire of Northern Ireland.

The women will be deported on arrival in Israel.
