The year 2016 closed with unprecedented attacks against Israel at the United Nations within the past week.

On Friday 23 December the UN Security Council passed a shockingly biased resolution condemning settlements in Israel, including referring to the Western Wall as an “illegal settlement”. The UK was among the countries that backed the resolution and was allegedly involved in drafting the motion. The United States abstained and failed to also use its veto. Israel subsequently summoned the UK ambassador and says it has concrete evidence that the Obama Administration “colluded” with the Palestinians before the vote. Prime Minister Netanyahu has also criticised a controversial speech by US Secretary of State, John Kerry, in recent days, which he described as “unbalanced” and “obsessively focused” on settlements. The speech was also criticised by the UK Government in what is being described as an “unprecedented” public rebuke of a close ally.

As we enter the New Year, we are reminded of the necessity of standing with Israel and prepare to raise our voices like never before. With a battle before us, as well as an unprecedented opportunity to stand with Israel in 2017, we ask you to please consider making a donation to support our work and enable us to continue making an impact; or become a Partner by setting up a regular donation.

The Church has been silent for too long regarding Israel, but now is the time to take the ground back. Now is the time to declare that “For Zion’s sake, I will not keep silent.”

A SIGNIFICANT YEAR FOR ISRAEL

The year 2017 marks several important anniversaries with the Centenary of the Balfour Declaration and 50 years since the reunification of Jerusalem in 1967. We can be certain that these events will be highly contested by the anti-Israel lobby. Together we have a major role in the year ahead to stand up and speak out for Israel.

As we reflect on 2016, we can see how with your help and the Lord’s blessing, we have grown considerably and have started to make a real impact. With various petitions and campaigns, you have sent over 10,000 emails to MPs, postcards mailed and petitions signed in the past three months alone. Thank you to everyone involved!

We are now also reaching millions through our social media – something we were determined to achieve when we launched one and a half years ago. Today CUFI-UK probably has more impact on Facebook than any other UK based pro-Israel organisation.

We are already excited about our plans for the year ahead, which you can follow on our social media, through TORCH magazine and via our weekly news round-up. (Subscribe for free here)

Thank you for your support!
