Thousands of Jewish pilgrims have attended the annual priestly blessing ceremony at the Western Wall in Jerusalem.

The ceremony – a traditional Passover event known as ‘Birkat Kohanim’ – takes place at the Western Wall in the Old City of the Israeli capital. Jews who are descended from the tribe of priests – the Cohanim – cover their heads with the talit (prayer shawl) as they give the blessing.
