The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is expected to vote Thursday on a contentious anti-Israel resolution that denies Jewish connections to the Temple Mount and Western Wall in Jerusalem.

The proposal, put forth by the Palestinians, along with Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar and Sudan, condemns Israel on several issues related to Jerusalem and its holy sites.

While the resolution does acknowledge Jerusalem as being holy to Judaism, Christianity and Islam, it says that the Temple Mount is only sacred to Muslims. The new resolution completely removes the significance of the site to Jews.

For example, the resolution refers to the Temple Mount complex only by Muslim names (Al-Aqsa Mosque and Haram al-Sharif) and fails to mention its Hebrew or English names (Har HaBayit or Temple Mount).

This proposal is not only outrageous to the Jewish people, but it should also stir the same feelings up in Christians. The Jewish connection to Jerusalem and its holy sites pre-dates the birth of Islam.

The fact that UNESCO is set to erase Jewish history is not only idiotic, it is anti-Semitic. We must pray against this resolution. And at the very least that the United Kingdom votes against it!
