This week the world witnessed a spectacle of warfare against one of Israel’s greatest enemies when thousands of Hezbollah’s communication devices exploded simultaneously killing dozens of Hezbollah terrorists and maiming thousands more. It is a story that sounds like a plot from a movie, such was the audacity of it. However, despite this appearing to be an precise attack that primarily targeted terrorists, the reaction from the world has been shameful.

Israel has not claimed responsibility for the attack, but the speculation is that it was carried out by Israel’s intelligence agencies. Whenever Israel makes a move there will always be backlash from those who see nothing good in Israel.

BBC pundits accused Israel of starting a new war with Hezbollah, despite Hezbollah starting this conflict. Radio hosts accused Israel of indiscriminately attacking civilians, despite almost all the victims being terrorists. They scraped the barrel in an attempt and find an angle to attack Israel and accuse the Jewish state of being evil.

The reality is that 99% of the ‘victims’ of this strategic attack are Hezbollah terrorists. The videos online of people in hospital wards did not show a single woman or child, they showed bearded, middle-aged men. A plane full of Hezbollah members being evacuated to Iran for medical treatments were again all men.

Yes, a handful of those hurt in this attack were civilians, and that is a tragedy, but based on the information we have, there has never been a lower civilian casualty rate in any military operation against terrorists like this, and none that has struck so many terrorists all at once.

How was it so precise? Well, because these devices were bought by Hezbollah, they were only given to Hezbollah members, and those terrorists knew they were the only ones allowed to handle those devices to keep Hezbollah’s secrets safe. Whoever carried out this attack did not randomly explode everyone’s devices in an area, they triggered explosions in specific pagers that were, as far as we can tell, only in the hands of terrorists.

The fact that 99% of the victims are men proves this. It goes against all other statistics of warfare and is the complete opposite of the ‘indiscriminate’ smear we are hearing in the media.

On the other hand, Hezbollah has been firing rockets indiscriminately at Israel for the past 11 months. Hezbollah has fired over 7,500 rockets into Israel since 8 October 2023.

Hezbollah’s response to October 7 was not sympathy, instead they vowed to help Hamas kill more Jews. They capitalised on Israel’s tragedy and have killed 46 Israelis, most of them civilians, and caused over 70,000 Israelis to be internally displaced because every rocket fired by Hezbollah is targeting civilians, the complete opposite of Israel’s military which only targets terrorists.

Sadly, Hezbollah has been effective in murdering Israeli children with its rockets. One Hezbollah rocket alone killed 12 Israeli children earlier this year as they played football. That means that one Hezbollah rocket killed more Israeli children than several thousand explosions even wounded Lebanese children.

We hate to even have to compare these things as every child is precious, but think about that for a moment. The disparity is huge.

Not to mention that Hezbollah is an outlawed terror group in the United Kingdom and much of the Western world. Being a member of the group is enough to land you in prison in the West. Yet when thousands of Hezbollah members are targeted, in a more precise way than in any other war, the media suddenly attempts to paint these terrorists as innocent victims. This is a stark contrast to when Israeli children are murdered by Hezbollah on purpose and there is near silence.

Hezbollah’s only aim is to remove the West and Israel from the Middle East. They want to destroy the Jewish state and they are deeply antisemitic.

Hezbollah is also responsible for some of the world’s worst terror. Notable among their attacks is the 1983 bombing of the U.S. Marine barracks in Beirut, which killed 241 American service members, and a simultaneous attack on French soldiers that left over 60 dead. They were also responsible for the 1983 bombing of the U.S. Embassy in Beirut, killing 63 people. Their 1994 bombing of a Jewish community center in Argentina was the worst terrorist attack in South American history and resulted in 85 deaths. These are just a handful of their attacks.

Today, Hezbollah is destroying Lebanon and robbing the Lebanese people of their freedoms as it has taken over large parts of the country with no aspirations of helping the country. Christian communities in Lebanon are heavily persecuted, and the terror group has amassed an arsenal of over 100,000 rockets ready to attack Israel. It’s also built a tunnel network which is reportedly greater than the one Hamas built in Gaza. They are an arm of the Iranian regimes ‘Axis of Resistance’ and their sole aim is the destruction of Israel.

The exploding pager attack may be shocking, and it was indeed quite brutal, but the men who were targeted were not good people. They were actively working to destroy Israel and the Jewish people. Sadly, the world is blinded to this truth.

We would say that we are surprised that many in the media are seemingly siding with the terrorists, but then again we’ve seen this all before. For the past 11 months they’ve been doing the same thing with Hamas.

This is why Israel needs our prayers. We know from the Bible that the world will eventually turn against Israel. It is happening before our eyes. And now, terrorists are more favourable to a fallen world than God’s chosen nation, Israel. That is how strong the deception is.

The Church is sadly not immune to this deception and as Christians our first priority is to ensure that Biblical truth is preached in church and that Christians understand the Biblical mandate to pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

Let’s not keep silent for Israel’s sake.
