The assassination of Charlie Kirk sent shockwaves around the world. He was a man who lived unashamedly in defence of truth, faith, and freedom. A person who was known simply for talking and debating people with different ideas, often winning the respect of those he disagreed with.
As the founder of Turning Point, he inspired not only young Americans but also audiences across the world to reject lies, particularly from the woke Left which has infected educational institutions and instead embrace the timeless values that built the West, values rooted in our Judeo-Christian traditions. Although his focus was mainly on America, his voice carried weight on both sides of the Atlantic.
Charlie was never shy about his convictions. He often declared that civilisation itself depended on faithfulness to God and to the biblical principles. He reminded audiences that, “Freedom is not man’s idea, it is God’s idea. And if we forget that, we will lose both.”
His message resonated in the United Kingdom too, where he defended Israel and proclaimed his Christian faith at both Cambridge and Oxford universities. At these forums, which are often dominated by hostility toward biblical values, Charlie stood undaunted, challenging anti-Israel students and academics alike to look at the evidence we see before our eyes in relation to the Israel-Gaza conflict and the timeless truth of Scripture. His defence of Israel as the ancestral and eternal homeland of the Jewish people was met with fierce opposition but he never wavered.
Sadly, there are some who are trying to distort Charlie’s legacy. Voices that are trying to drive a wedge between Christians and Israel. They will not succeed.
The Turning Point official YouTube channels are littered with pro-Israel videos titled, “Charlie Kirk demolishes anti-Israel activist” and “Charlie Kirk takes down anti-Israel student”, among other things; So why don’t we just listen to what Charlie Kirk himself had to say about Israel?
In a recent video, when Charlie is taking questions from the audience, he is accused of spending “half his speech” talking about Israel. The student, who is an anti-Israel Christian, then reads out Charlie Kirk’s own words where Charlie said: “A Christian that’s not pro-Israel, I doubt they actually love their Bible, and I will stand by that statement. If you’re a Christian that doesn’t love Israel then you take your Bible way, way, way too much for granted.”
He’s then challenged if he stands by that statement, to which Charlie responds: “I definitely stand by this statement.”
Charlie explains the importance of the land of Israel to Christians, saying, “When I went to Israel I came into contact with the living God that walked on water and raised Lazarus from the dead. When I went to Israel, I saw the Bible come to life. When I went to Israel, I saw Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and Sarah, and Rebekah, and Leah in the Hall of Patriarchs. When I went to Israel when I read these Bible stories popped open and I said ‘this is the Word of God. This is real. These are not fairy tales or fables or things that we tell our kids.’ When I went to Israel, I was able to cry where Jesus cried, where he was betrayed by Judas and arrested, where he rose from the dead and gives us eternal life.”
“I am not an apologist for Israel, but I reject wholeheartedly this [anti-Israel] narrative. Christians who turn their back on Israel, it says in Genesis, and Romans… If you bless Israel you’ll be blessed, if you scorn Israel you’ll be scorned.”
Charlie continued, “How do we know the Bible is true? Every day there are archaeological discoveries that confirm the truths of the Bible found in 1 Samuel, in 1 Kings, in 1 Chronicles. There is a diabolical Satanic agenda, every single day, to try and delegitimise the Scriptures, and I will defend the Holy Land, the place that let me see where my Lord and Saviour lives. And I will not apologise for that.”
This statement was spoken less than a year before Charlie’s death. It was during the most recent Israel-Gaza conflict. There is no question that Charlie Kirk loved Israel and the Jewish people. And this stance has been corroborated by numerous close friends and colleagues of Charlie. Likewise, he was still in contact with Israeli politicians.
Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu paid tribute to Charlie, saying: “Charlie Kirk was murdered for speaking truth and defending freedom. A lion-hearted friend of Israel, he fought the lies and stood tall for Judeo-Christian civilisation. I spoke to him only two weeks ago and invited him to Israel. Sadly, that visit will not take place. We lost an incredible human being. His boundless pride in America and his valiant belief in free speech will leave a lasting impact.”
More important than his stand for Israel was his love for Jesus. Charlie was a faithful Christian, unafraid to speak about Jesus Christ in public life. He challenged the secular culture that sought to silence believers and insisted that the Gospel was not only a personal truth but also the foundation of a free and moral society. “The cross is not a symbol of oppression,” he often reminded listeners, “it is the ultimate sign of love, redemption, and hope.” We couldn’t agree more.
His funeral gave millions of people the opportunity to hear the Gospel message. Jesus was at the centre of Charlie’s life, and his friends and family ensured Jesus was the focus at his funeral. There are reports that many have come to the Lord through Charlie’s testimony.
Charlie’s global influence was unmistakable. From American rallies to British universities, and from television studios to church pulpits, Charlie Kirk called for courage in the face of cultural collapse and for loyalty to the God of Israel. He understood that the future of the West depended on standing firm in truth, on blessing Israel, and on proclaiming Christ without fear.
Well done, Charlie. Thank you for being a good and faithful servant right to the end. We are all inspired by your example, and we will be the ones carrying the torch from here on.
