A majority of Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza approve of attacks against Israeli civilians and believe that an armed intifada would help them on the path to statehood, a recent poll has found.

The survey was carried out by the Ramallah-based Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research in March with the findings published on 4th April 2016.

The results found that 60% of Palestinians support “armed attacks against Israeli civilians inside Israel”. This number has dropped by 7 percentage point based off a survey late last year which found 67% supported knife attacks against Israelis.

This most recent poll also found that 65% of the Palestinian population believes that “escalating the current wave of violence into an armed Intifada would help Palestinian national aspirations.”

The same number of people also oppose the Palestinian Authority’s security forces for taking action to and contain the violence and prevent further attacks against Israelis.

The survey also found that a majority of Palestinians (52%) believe that Israel is planning to destroy the al-Aqsa Mosque. While this is far from the reality of Israeli’s actions and intentions, it shows that the incitement of Palestinian leaders has a far reaching affect on the Palestinian population.

Join us in praying that all Palestinians would embrace peace and love for their neighbours over violence and hatred.
