Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, is due to arrive in London on Wednesday for a series of top-level meetings with politicians and Jewish leaders, including his British counterpart David Cameron. Christians United for Israel is encouraging Christians to take this opportunity to express support for Israel and give PM Netanyahu a warm welcome to the UK.

A petition calling for Mr Netanyahu’s arrest has now passed 100,000 signatures, meaning a parliamentary debate could be triggered on the issue. Opponents are campaigning for him to be detained on suspicion of war crimes, a claim they base on Israel’s defensive actions in the 2014 Israel-Gaza conflict. Such an arrest is impossible in the UK as foreign leaders and ministers have diplomatic immunity from arrest, however the publicity stunt is designed to polarise the public against Israel and put pressure on politicians to distance themselves from Israel.

CUFI believes it is very important this anti-Israel attack is countered by all those who support Israel. It is essential our politicians do not only hear of opposition against Israel, but understand that Israel’s Prime Minister is and always will be welcome in our nation.

Here are two ways you can show your support:

Join other Israel supporters outside Downing Street

Anti-Israeli activists are descending on Whitehall this Wednesday (9 September) as a protest at the meeting of David Cameron and Benjamin Netanyahu. We are supporting Israel Advocacy Movement alongside We Believe in Israel, the Board of Deputies, Zionist Federation and Sussex Friends of Israel in forming a pro-Israel rally in solidarity of the Israel and Mr Netanyahu. If you would like to join this counter-demo, please click here for more information.

Write to David Cameron

To: The Rt Honourable David Cameron MP

Dear Mr Cameron,

I am writing to express my support for Israel ahead of Prime Minister Netanyahu’s visit to the UK. I would like to thank you for welcoming Mr Netanyahu to London and pray that your planned meeting with him is productive. As you mentioned in your excellent speech earlier this year, Israel remains surrounded by threats. Sadly, some of these attitudes are held by a vocal minority here in the UK, which is why it is essential our government continues to build strong relationships with the State of Israel and stands with Israel in its effort to maintain security of its borders. Once again, I warmly welcome Mr Netanyahu’s visit to the UK and would like to thank you for your continued support for Israel.
Yours sincerely,
[Your name]
