You may have heard the usual media spin that Israel is attacking ‘Lebanon’. There is talk of a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, but both countries are against Hezbollah. However, Israel is the one taking strong military action against the group.

When Hamas terrorists invaded Israel on October 7th, they were supported by Hezbollah. The very next day, on October 8th, Hezbollah fighters launched thousands of rockets into Israel. From that point onwards, Israel was fighting a two pronged war. One against Hamas in Gaza, and the other against Hezbollah in Lebanon.

A key point here is that Israel did not attack first. Israel was invaded by Hamas and then Hezbollah declared war against Israel and launched unprecedented attacks against Israeli civilians. Israel did not just have a right to respond; it had a moral duty to defend its citizens.

Hezbollah is not Lebanon. The Lebanese government is opposed to Hezbollah, and it is disappointing that most of the media, including the BBC and Sky News, are framing this as Israel being the aggressor against Lebanon, when in reality Israel is fighting a defensive war against Hezbollah terrorists.

Here are some important facts to remember:
• Israel is not striking ‘Lebanon’ it is striking Hezbollah in Lebanon
• Hezbollah is a terrorist organisation controlled by Iran
• The Lebanese government wants to limit Hezbollah and stop their terror activity
• 79% of the Lebanese public wants Hezbollah disarmed (2025 poll)
• Israel and Lebanon this week signed a deal to counter Hezbollah together
• Hezbollah is using the same terror tactics as Hamas, including using human shields and hiding weapons in civilian infrastructure
• The media is smearing Israel and whitewashing Hezbollah’s crimes just as they did in the Hamas-Israel war

All of these points should not be a surprise to Christian watchmen who can see and understand the tactics of the enemy. Satan is the father of lies, and one of the best weapons against Israel is the propaganda against her.

Israel and the Lebanese government have signed a ceasefire deal, but this deal has been rejected by Hezbollah. To be clear, this isn’t a ceasefire to stop Israel and Lebanon from being at war, this is a deal between the governments of Israel and Lebanon agreeing to a ceasefire to stop hostilities involving Hezbollah.
They have agreed to work together to counter Hezbollah.

The only problem with that is that Hezbollah has not agreed to this. They only want a ceasefire once Israel has completely left Lebanon. But Israeli troops are currently inside Lebanon to protect the northern border of Israel from the threat of Hezbollah.

This precarious situation means that outlets like Al Jazeera, the Qatari state own media outlet (the same Qatar that is the top funder of Hamas) to put out statements like: “Israel has continued to launch attacks on southern Lebanon despite the two countries striking a new United States-brokered ceasefire agreement.”

To the uninformed reader, it looks as though Lebanon has agreed to stop fighting Israel, but big bad Israel keeps striking Lebanon. The reality, again, is that Lebanon and Israel are both against Hezbollah. Israel is striking Hezbollah strongholds in Lebanon. Also, Hezbollah has not agreed to the ceasefire, and so they continue to attack Israel.

It’s all quite complicated, especially when you add in the media’s soundbites from President Trump’s conversation with Prime Minister Netanyahu and when you add a whole load of distortions by the media (and Hezbollah lying to the media) about who the victims of Israel’s strikes are, the whole situation becomes very muddy.

To be clear, Israel is fighting against and defending itself from radical Islamist terror. Hezbollah is a terrorist organisation that needs to be dealt with.

We need to pray against these media distortions. Pray for the Church to be awake and have wisdom when listening to the news. And pray for the protection of Israel and the liberation of Lebanon from the threat of Hezbollah. The region will be much safer for all peoples if Iran’s terror proxies were removed.
