Israel has launched a public relations campaign aiming to counter BDS efforts against the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv by buying up Google ads ostensibly supporting a boycott but that actually link to a pro-Israel website.
The BDS movement has urged artists, music fans and broadcasters to boycott the competition for months.
The Israeli initiative posts advertisements on Google that appear to be in support of the boycott movement but actually link to a pro-Israel website.
Google AdWords including “boycott” and “Eurovision” lead users to a website, boycotteurovision.net, which praises Israel as “Beautiful, Diverse, Sensational,” in a wordplay standing in for “boycott, divestment and sanctions.” It also caters to the Eurovision crowd.
Unsurprisingly, the BDS movement is furious with Israel and is calling it “crude propaganda”. We actually call it the truth. The fact that they will not even allow any good news of Israel to be told shows that the BDS movement is anti-Semitic. Their hatred of Israel is so dark they cannot see the light of Israel, which is beautiful, diverse and sensational.
Now THIS is smart!#Israel’s Strategic Affairs Ministry created website (https://t.co/Kj84xYPHd7) which appears to support #BoycottEurovision, but which actually links to pro-Israel website, where #BDS stands for “Beautiful, Diverse, Sensational.”https://t.co/aHuOH1wdw1 pic.twitter.com/Um8xygzc5P
