Israeli and Palestinian health and medical bodies are making unprecedented strides in cooperation to work towards preventing the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus.
On Wednesday, hundreds more of COVID-19 testing kits, along with hundreds of protective suits and masks for medical teams, supplied by the World Health Organisation, were transferred by Israel to Gaza through the Erez Crossing.
The cooperation is further evidence debunking the myth that there is apartheid in Israel.
It follows the earlier transfer of testing kits, training of Palestinian medical teams as well as last week’s delivery of 20 tons of disinfectant.
At a recent joint meeting where special prevention measures were discussed, COGAT’s Civil Affairs Colonel, Sharon Biton said,
“The Coronavirus, like other viruses, does not recognise geographic borders. The international community is a key player in every kind of assistance to Palestinian infrastructure, including during events of this kind”
In the past two weeks, hundreds of #coronavirus testing kits have been delivered by Israel to the Palestinian territories and health systems, with the coordination of COGAT, in response to the outbreak of the coronavirus in the region. (1/2) pic.twitter.com/i2LITuAUBq
