A 70-year-old Jewish man was attacked on a street in Strasbourg earlier this week near the city’s main synagogue .
The victim, who was hit in his face and legs, was wearing a kippah when he left the synagogue. The attacker shouted “dirty Jew, I’ll kill you”. It is reported a few minutes prior to the attack the attacker cursed another Jewish man who passed by on a bicycle.
Peretz, the victim, told police he was jumped and knocked to the ground and hit in the face and legs. “I was full of blood,” he said. The attacker fled the scene in a vehicle.
Passersby phoned police and interviewed witnesses to the attack. An ambulance was called to transport the Peretz to a hospital where he was treated for what are described as light injuries.
