In a first for Israel, a Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) activist from Switzerland, who is known for harassing IDF soldiers and causing scenes at border crossings has been denied entry into Israel and sent back home.

Upon landing at Ben Gurion Airport, the BDS activist, Rita Faye, was taken in for questioning and then deported, after Interior Minister Aryeh Deri issued a deportation order against her.

According to Only Simchas, Rita Faye, has visited Israel several times, to areas around the city of Jericho and is known to harass and try to provoke arguments with IDF soldiers. She would use verbal and physical abuse to provoke the soldiers to react, in an attempt to film them and sell the recordings to the international media. The media who purchased her provocation tapes would then try and paint the soldiers as bullies who were being aggressive to “peaceful demonstrators”.

This is the first time that a deportation order has been issued against a BDS activist from Europe. Sources within the Interior Ministry said that it is possible that additional deportation orders will be issued against BDS activists in an attempt to combat the organizations calling for a boycott of Israel.
