A former US marine badly wounded in a terror attack last week has been released from hospital.

David Stern, who lives in Itamar and is an American citizen, was in a moderate-to-serious condition after sustaining gunshot wounds to his head and shoulder when a Palestinian terrorist opened fire at him and his wife as they were driving through the village . David’s wife, who was in the passenger seat, wasn’t hit by the gunfire, but was admitted to hospital with shock.

What the attacker didn’t realise was that his victim was a former US-marine and a weapons instructor. David shot his attacker, wounding him. The terrorist then dropped his gun and fled the scene before being arrested, treated in hospital, and then handed over to the Shin Bet for questioning.

Pictures that emerged from the scene showed his windscreen with bullet holes from the 18 bullets fired.

The attack came exactly three weeks after two Israeli brothers were shot dead in a terror attack while driving through Huwara.

David has been praised for his bravery at protecting his family and on Thursday was seen leaving the hospital with his family. Later, videos emerged on social media of David’s return to the village of Huwara where he received a hero’s welcome.

This year, we want to do more to bless Israel and the Jewish people.

We know that as we bless Israel this year, God will bless us, just as He promised in Genesis 12:3, “I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” Now is the time to bless Israel and the Jewish people.
