CUFI UK’s petition calling for the government to drop its plan to recognise a Palestinian state has been submitted to the Foreign Office.
Over 12,000 unique signatures have backed the petition ahead of Keir Starmer’s expected decision on 9th September.
Thank you to all those who signed the petition. If you didn’t get chance to add your name, please note that the petition will remain open as long as necessary.
Please join CUFI in praying for the effectiveness of this campaign and that Keir Starmer will change his position on this important matter.
Keir Starmer has vowed to recognise a Palestinian state on 9th September if Israel does not meet certain conditions. This ultimatum puts impossible deadlines on Israel to somehow create a ceasefire, while incentivising Hamas to oppose a ceasefire and seek maximum concessions.
This is not how you treat an ally. Britain threatening Israel is not a valid basis for forging peace in the region. Peace is only possible when Hamas (and all Palestinian terrorists) lay down their arms and release all the hostages. Since October 7th 2023, Hamas has consistently rejected peace and should be held to account by all western governments, including the UK.
CUFI calls upon the UK Prime Minister and the Labour Party not to recognise a Palestinian state. This move does not bode well for our future relationship with Israel and puts the UK Jewish community under even greater threat.
