As a Christian, I strongly oppose the Government’s decision to “reset” the UK-Israel relationship and place sanctions on Israel.
Singling out Jews for living in their Biblical homeland is an historic mistake.
The UK is being weakened against terror
Israel is a bulwark for the West in its fight against radical Islam. Israeli intelligence has saved British lives. Weakening Israel makes the UK vulnerable to terror, including the Iranian threat.
Palestinian terror is being empowered
The UK Government is rewarding Palestinian terrorism. Hamas claimed that the UK’s recognition of a Palestinian state was the “fruit” of October 7th. The UK is making that mistake again by empowering the Palestinian Authority (PA).
The PA is now further away from negotiations because the UK has aided its political terror against Israel on the global stage. The UK continues to fund the PA which pays terrorists through its ‘Pay-to-Slay’ policy, sending millions of British taxpayer funds to support this terror regime.
The PA is not a partner for peace and Britain is wrong to take their side against Israel. If anyone should be sanctioned, it is the PA!
The UK’s actions are anti-Jewish
Singling out Jews for sanctions simply for living in Judea and Samaria (the West Bank) is wrong.
The UK Government’s labelling of Israel’s presence in their ancient homeland as ‘unlawful’ is morally reprehensible. It attempts to divorce Judaism from its holiest sites, including the Western Wall and the Temple Mount, and denies the Jewish people’s right to live freely in the heart of their Biblical homeland.
An attack on Christian beliefs
The UK Government has betrayed millions of British Christians who believe in the Jewish people’s Biblical, legal, and historic right to self-determination in the land of Israel.
The UK Government’s actions will negatively impact the religious freedoms of British Christians who support Israel and who visit Israel for tourism and religious pilgrimages, and who buy products from the Holy Land.
Innocent Israelis and Palestinians will lose their livelihoods
Israelis living in the so-called ‘Settlements’ live there in peace. They are simply raising their families and living their lives. Punishing them for this is wrong. Likewise, thousands of Palestinian workers who are employed by Israeli companies will be negatively affected. The UK claims it wants to help the Palestinians but instead it is punishing the Palestinians who live side-by-side with Israelis.
Sanctions will fuel antisemitism in the UK
Jews are already experiencing increased antisemitism in Britain. Antisemites have a false perception of Israel and Jews. These sanctions reinforce the lies against Israel, painting the Jewish state as either evil or illegitimate. This fuels Jew-hate in the UK.
Double standards
The UK has created a dangerous precedent for British foreign policy. There are numerous territorial disputes globally which the UK Government has not acted over. The IHRA definition on antisemitism makes it clear that treating Israel differently to other nations is antisemitism.
Israelis have the right to build on that land
The area of E1 is being highlighted in an attempt to subvert the public’s understanding, but area E1 is part of Area C. Israel has jurisdiction over Area C, including permission to build, as per the Oslo II agreement which was signed between Israel and the Palestinians.
We reject the UK’s deeply flawed interpretation of international law which attempts to redefine established norms. Israel has a legal claim to that land under international law.
The Palestinian Cause is the roadblock to peace
Jews building homes in their ancient homeland is not a barrier to peace. The Palestinian Cause, which rejects Israel’s right to exist, is the real barrier.
Palestinian leaders do not want peace and have rejected every peace deal, instead preferring the path of jihad. This includes political terror against Israel on the world stage.
The UK’s continual siding with Palestinians over Israel only empowers the Palestinians in their plans to weaken Israel and moves them further form negotiations.
The UK is at risk of God’s judgement
As Christians, we are instructed to pray for the peace of Jerusalem (Psalm 122). God clearly states that He will bless those who bless Israel and curse those who curse Israel (Genesis 12:3). God also says He will judge every nation that tries to divide up His land (Joel 3:2).
We want Britain to honour God. We want Britain to uphold the Judeo-Christian beliefs that formed the foundations of this great country. We want Britain to bless Israel and the Jewish people. We want Britain to champion the cause of Isarel, to combat antisemitism to the fullest, and to stand up to radical Islam.
Therefore, we are telling the UK Government to STOP!
- Stop punishing Jews for living in their historic homeland.
- Stop criminalising Britons for holding Biblical beliefs on Israel.
- Stop harming Britain by dismantling the UK-Israel relationship.
- Stop empowering Iran and radical Islamists.
- Stop enabling the antisemitic ‘Palestinian Cause’.
Stop sanctioning Israel!
