It’s time to turn down the volume of the BBC and turn up the volume of God’s Word.

“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.” Philippians 4:3

It is not surprising that the BBC is the centre of such controversy. Any institution that is founded on Biblical principles is a target of spiritual warfare. As CUFI reported this week here, the BBC was dedicated to ‘Almighty God’ by the founding governors in 1931 and was founded upon clear Biblical principles, with Philippians 4:3 referred to in the inscription stone still situated at the BBC studios today.

“….that all things hostile to peace or purity may be banished from this house, and that the people, inclining their ear to whatsoever things are beautiful and honest and of good report, may tread the path of wisdom and uprightness”

The BBC is one of Britain’s flagship institutions, but it has forsaken its first authority, Almighty God, and become subject to an anti-God, anti-Israel agenda.

Today, please join us in praying for the BBC – that it will return to promoting what is “just, pure, lovely, good report.” But let us also pause for one moment: while the BBC is so influential in Britain and throughout the world; and while it is important that they are held to account to ensure it reports truthfully; we must be careful not to miss the role of the Church in the UK.

If the BBC is the expectant paramount source of truth, then we are looking in the wrong place. There is an ‘institution’ – if we can describe it as such – that has often forgone its place in providing Biblical Truth in this land. That body is the Church. The Church has a role that is more important than the BBC in declaring the truth of the Bible. Yet, many leaders in the Church are preaching the narrative of the BBC rather than the Bible. And many Christians are choosing to form their Israel theology based on the biased news media, rather than on a Biblical worldview. It’s time to remember which kingdom we serve. It’s time to turn down the volume of the BBC and turn up the volume of God’s Word.
