“The Lord tests the righteous, But the wicked and the one who loves violence His soul hates.”
Psalm 11:5

This week has been eventful. We saw President Donald Trump, someone which the vast majority of Israelis consider to be a friend of Israel, be elected as the 47th President of the United States and it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the US-Israel relationship, which is Israel’s closest ally.

By the end of the week, we witnessed the evil of the past coming to life once again as what can quite easily be described as a pogrom took place against Israelis and Jews in Amsterdam. These attacks were fuelled by the same antisemitic hatred that fuelled the Nazis during the Holocaust and that continues to fuel Hamas and Israel’s other enemies today.

The verse above describes God hating violence from His soul. We witnessed so many who hate Israel and the Jewish people celebrating violence this week, just as we saw celebrations of violence in the aftermath of October 7th. This is truly a spiritual battle of good vs evil, and God is clear which side He is on.

Here are this week’s prayer points:

  • Pray for President-elect Donald Trump as he prepares to once again lead America. Pray that he will have wisdom as he leads and that he will continue his legacy as a friend of Israel and the Jewish people. Pray that he will appoint godly men and women to serve alongside him, and that he will be a righteous leader who stands up for Israel against the shared enemies of Israel and the West.
  • Pray for President Joe Biden as he prepares to step down from the presidency in January. Pray that his final months in office will be a time of blessing and friendship between Israel and the USA.
  • Pray against the evil of antisemitism that was unleashed on the streets of Amsterdam this week. Pray that Western governments will have their eyes opened to this reality and will have wisdom and courage to counter the rise of antisemitism in our societies.
  • Pray for all those who were affected by the violence in Amsterdam this week, especially those who were physically beaten, and those receiving hospital treatment. Pray for healing to them physically and psychologically after the horrific traumas they experienced.
  • Pray for Jews in Amsterdam and other European capitals who are once again fearing for their own safety and likely wondering whether it is safe for them to stay. Pray for peace and protection over every Jewish family as they commemorate Kristallnacht.
  • Pray that the Church in the West will remember the lessons from the Holocaust and fight back against the evil of antisemitism. We cannot be silent.
  • Praise the Lord that the Jewish people have Israel to protect them so that the events of the Holocaust will never be repeated. Continue to pray for Israel’s protection and strength as it defends God’s people.
