The Bible says, “I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed,” and “I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; and you shall be a blessing.” This was God’s promise to Abraham, and it speaks of the nation of Israel. God’s covenant with Israel is one of blessing. So many who have turned against the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob openly curse Israel without apology. But this is dangerous. Not least because they are living under a curse that has been instructed by God Himself. This might not be palatable to the ears of some in the church but it is the truth. As Christians we worship Jesus, a Jew himself, who came into the world as a light in the darkness. We remember his birth at this time of year, but we also remember why he was born. He came to deliver those in darkness from the curse of sin. True Christians therefore have no authority to curse the nation of Israel with their actions, their lips, their doctrine or their heart. Christians who do so must repent, obey God’s commands, and bless Israel instead. Blessing awaits those who do. So let us pray for Christians in this country who need an awakening of the truth. Pray that the church in Britain will stand with Israel. And pray that Israel will be blessed.
